bind keys for jumps

i was wondering if anyone out there knows how to bind different jumps to keys? i know i will get called a noob a couple of times but i don't really care, i just need to be able to jump properly, and yes i have practiced and failed :P

No need for binds. Go to jump, Sure it's hard at first, Nice crowd, They'll teach you what you need to know, Soon enough you'll do it on your own, not only will you be able to do the jumps, but your movement will improve which is a vital aspect of Quake.

alias -2j "-moveup"
bind MOUSE2 +2j // NO QUOTES!!!

variation i wrote for this, works on ladders as well.

alias +dj "+forward;+moveup"
alias -dj "-forward;-moveup"
bind <key> +dj

tap the key twice to do a standing double, once at the top of a ladder to do a ladder jump.

works best on fps 23-33, async 1

i find the less extra buttons i have, the easier it is. having a standing dj alias screwed my life up, so now i just do them manually. jump -> forward + jump. have to be fast, but it works. i do stuff like bind mwheelup/down to change cl_maxfps, same with mouse3/4/5. bind a button to kill, and one to store. dunno, you dont need anything fancy for jump.

i use a dj bind just for consistency... but i dont have any movement other than jump with it, so i can do pretty much any double jump with it unless you need to delay your second jump slightly then i just do it manually

HOWEVER... i think it would be pretty fucking hilarious to see a one touch script to run through an entire complex jump map xD figure out the waits and movement distances and everything lmao

I guess only double jump  key can make your life easier. Others are more or less useless if you are competing for highest places. Even double jump has like 4-5 different ways to acomplish (not including stand double jump). And the same double jump on other map might be totally different. So you have to adjust to every map.

well as far as my bind goes, ive never really had any problems with it... i just keep the movement aside from jumping all up to me, so if i have to hit something at a certain angle or whatever then i do :) if i need to do a slower double jump than my extremely fast bind then i just do it manually

a good example of that is standing in the corner at the backpack crate on dm1 holding forward/left, with my fps if i hit the double jump bind it jumps too fast and i just end up standing on the backpack crate, if i do it manually though its slightly slower allowing me to do the jump just fine and get up ontop of the tall crate... however i just get around this by standing by the 32 unit box and holding one direction into it and using the dj bind to get up to the top :P like standing to the right of the small crate, holding left, hit my bind, and im up :)

my bind isnt all easy street though, all it does is click twice really fast for me basically, i still have to line my jumps up, strafe right, and start from the right place

plus... i dont really give a shit if some one bitches i use a script cause i can do all the jumps without it anyway :P id just rather be lazy
