Nothing can come close of the exorcist for me. Saw that when I was mabye 10 or so. Besides that no recent movies have done much for me. They all try to focus on gross effect instead of setting up an atmosphere or something. Some might make you jump a bit but none really leave you with any substance that might really scare you.

The Haunting--the 1963 movie with Julie Harris. Scary/creepy as hell. No blood, no gore--it's all done with sounds and dialogue; suggestion and understatement are ALWAYS scarier/sexier/more visceral than the blatant stuff.
Other than that, the only movies that have made me want to keep a light on when I went to bed have been The Exorcist and The Sixth Sense.

"Night of the Living Dead" original. I saw it late at night and alone when i was 5.
"When a Stranger Calls". The 1st 15-20 mins is great. Horror/thrillers are usually so predictable but this one completely blindsided me.

you aint shittin, that is a fucked up movie
odd how peter jackson, before taking on the LOTR project, made the goriest movie of all time... then outdid himself to have the 2 most gore-filled movies

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
