Why is it that i can go download a custom engine that looks pretty, just for shits and giggles...

and it SOME HOW gets frame drops >_>

Quake 2 Evolved FAILS

According to paril the coding is why its so bad

but even then, it should not get frame drops on a couple 8800 gts's in sli and a 3ghz quad core... -.- wtf?

The frame drops are SO bad, i cant jump onto the small 32 unit boxes half the time >.<

some one just needs to take all the q2e assets and make a custom egl client with them or something...

i knew it wasnt that great, but it looks nice

and im kinda disapointed that its coded SO badly that it cant even keep the frames playable...

Q2E never gave me bad frame rates. But what did you expect when you up the graphics? A frame rate increase?

well seeing as how my computer is a 3ghz quad core, with 2 8800gts(g92)'s in sli... q2e shouldnt even put a dent in it...

and i checked to make sure it wasnt a multithreading problem by setting it to run on just one core... and i have sli disabled atm so that shouldnt be causing a problem, its just very VERY poorly programmed

It never gave me bad frame rates either when I tried it on a 6600 GT and like 1gb ram. held 90 steady.

In that case you've probably already tried this, but just in case:

Is the "Threaded optimization" set to "off" in your NVidia control panel? Enabling it can cause massive frame lag in Q2.

I just ran Q2E with everything turned up all the way (except resolution- 1280x1024). Excelent FPS.
ATI 3850
AMD Phenom 9600
4gb DDR2

lots of kewl stuff on that site

just google search quake 2 high resolution and its the first thing lol the high res texture pak on there is pretty nice
