I've only ever played Halo, Golden Eye & Q2 from that list, but it's sad to see that Dead simple didn't make the list over the others, or longest yard from q3a. Two of the most remade maps, ever.

I'm honestly glad that neither q2dm1 or The Longest 3 Feet made it on the list.

However I am surprised that Aerowalk did not. It's probably the most recognizable map between all quake style Deathmatch games.

I was under the impression that q2dm1 was the most popular Quake2 map. Especially since there are at least 20 (maybe more) q2dm1 remakes/modifications out there. I don't recall ever seeing anyone making a map that resembled Tokay's Towers.

Tokay's Towers? That's one of the lamest q2dm maps. It's a bunch of annoying elevators, not to mention the BFG... I can't believe they'd choose Tokay's Towers over The Edge...

Dust is "The Edge" of CS, So yeah q2dm1 would be a good vote.

I agree about Aerowalk.

No other maps from Q1 - 4?

It -MAY- be an override but in normal DM it is a chained item that rotates between rail and BFG. If you enable weapon stay then it glitches and never rotates to the next chained item (since there is obviously no respawning). I thought that with weapon stay on it always stayed as BFG because I think that the BFG spawns first.

I tested it and in standard 3.2 with weapon stay it always spawns as a BFG. In r1q2 with weapon stay it always spawns as a railgun.

I'm fairly certain that in older versions of the gamex86.dll the weapon_stay flag would remove a BFG from a map. Infinite ammo definitely does. So playing tokays towers on older servers (possibly 3.19) may have made the railgun standard and lead to that comment. It's also possible that this author only played Tokays 10 years ago and barely remembers it enough to just throw in a railgun comment for nostalgic purposes.

Should have been q2dm1 yes

ON dm2 'normal' settings have been like peewee said, either BFG or rail can spawn.

Tokays is a great map, I LOVE it in 4v4 (haven't played it in years though, 2's/3's on a good day, edge only make me a sad panda) but definitely dm1 over dm2 all day erry day for map fame.

I've been absolutely sick to death of DM1 for about 6 years.

DM2 is good but I don't like the water tunnels at the bottom.
The GL area is relatively quiet usually, same as GL area in Lost Hallways - You pick the gun up and head off to where the action is or up for the MH.
I don't like the easily camp-able lifts in DM2: ie lift to RG/BFG/RA and the lift to MH.
I also don't like the position of RL which is an obvious spam point for a cheap and easy frag.

IMO DM8 is by far the best DM map - well balanced areas/gun/ammo/armour placement, some fun jumps and interesting areas. I like the little ramp edges on the walkways. The action seems to happen everywhere with no real 'quiet spots'
Worst thing about DM8 is when it finishes you know crappy boring DM1 is next

Time to jump on the ledge in the outside area and see how many rockets/rails I can dodge before dying

lol... when i saw the thread i thought, q2rdm2? makes sense some people LOVE it...

then i noticed its q2dm2, just had to think, wtf :/ kewl map and all, but no where near the best
