Just a bit of advice. It's one thing to have a blog and discuss ideas, it's quite another to have an open diary.

Usually people turn these things into online diaries. They blab on about every little personal thought they have during the day, what they had for breakfast, which hand they wiped their ass with, where they went, what they did. That may be cool with some people, but it's just a way to incriminate yourself for something. You never know who will read it. At the very least, some random dickhead from the other side of the globe will be able to read all about your personal life and say to themselves, "Gawd, what a fucking idiotic self-important loser." Does some asshole in bumblefuck Egypt really deserve to know the real you? Then what value does that give to your honesty and openness towards the people around you that you really think are deserving of that from you? Kinda makes you an "honesty slut".

To prove my point, when I ever get bored enough and subject myself to reading some random someones blog, I usually say to myself, "God, what an idiot."

I think you're a little backwards. Someone reading it to make fun of you is a reasonable consequence. Someone reading it to stalk you or to use that information in a harassing way is another. I won't mention any specifics but one well known internet personality once blogged an incredibly personal subject. He removed it but not fast enough. Later a bunch of retarded adolescents from other countries started sending incredibly harassing e-mails. I found this story out from one of them who years later tried to be friends with the guy that he had sent the offensive e-mails to. He acted as if he knew the guy personally. That's very creepy to me.

The reason why I called your post backwards is because you essentially make the claim that the worst end of keeping an online journal is for someone to make fun of you. I disagree and say that that is a normal reaction and the worst possible end is stalking. Backwards may not be the best choice of words, but it is placed in an order that does not reflect the correct order of importance. So backwards is as good of a word as any.

If you just wanted to mention that people sometimes get stalked from their blogs, then you should have just mentioned that without saying, "I think you're backwards", which anyone with a pulse would OBVIOUSLY take to mean, "I think you are wrong.", therefore making everything after such a statement become the real meat of their argument. You had no idea your words would be taken to mean something else? You had no idea when you typed that that it appeared as though you were arguing against me? Really, man. Once again I didn't realize that it was you when I responded. I disagreed with the contents of your post and not based on the individual who posted it. You obviously have a problem with me and are responding in kind based on the person and not the contents. I disagreed with you in context of the original thread in a way to contribute to the running discussion. This could have spawned further discussion. Instead you have decided to argue an unrelated matter. I'm simply continuing the argument in order to A) get all of these related posts sent to entropy because we've reverted to trolling, and B) get a good laugh out of you acting like an all female message board that has to "call people out" whenever there is an issue about who invited who to a sewing circle.

Erica, every thread starter on the forums owns that particular thread, and you are the moderator of it.  Any thread starter can delete posts for whatever reason they would like to (for example, off topic conversations, flame-wars, etc.)
