Freeze Tag Guide

Welcome to the fantastically quickly written Freeze guide!

Courtesty of their lordship, Tastyspleen. Tastyspleen operates a Freeze Tag server. Currently the maplist is a little iffy but will be sorted shortly when a list can be decided!

Firstly, the server is at: tastyspleen.net:27928 (or GOTO FREEZE)

Basic Overview

Freeze Tag is a team based game which can cater for up to 2v2 to 5v5. 3v3 is a good starting point. The name of the game is to Freeze your opponent by killing him as normal, once your opponent is frozen you can hook him away from his teammates and hide him in difficult to locate places, or to bait your opponents into running after him, etc.

If you get frozen, you are in the same position! However, your teammates can hook you too to get you to a safe place and thaw you out. Thawing is done by standing still next to a frozen teammate for roughly 3-5 seconds.

Finally, the round is won when the entire opposition is frozen.

Things to look out for/do

It's weapons stay, DM. Collect ammo and armor as if it were DM.
Alert your teammates to where you are when you are frozen so they can thaw you asap.
Bind a key to +hook, it does not grapple you anywhere but it does hook opponents/teammates.

Setup

Freeze Tag takes very little setting up other than binding a key to +hook, and you need working CTF skins in your Freeze folder. To do this, either take the ctf skins from wherever you might have them stored, OR if you don't know, use PakExplorer or another program to open your CTF Pak0.pak and extract the player folder from there, and dump it into the Freeze directory.

Populate the server! It's a fun alternative to TDM and a barrel of laughs with lots of players.

PS: "Vote MAP" is the command to vote a new map, type Vote to see a maplist. e.g. Vote q2dm3

I fixed up my brightskin pak (mostly Ely's pngs) so it has the ones you'll need for this, and a full set of them for ra2 as well.
