Framerate, jumping and tearing
« on: October 03, 2009, 07:35:21 PM »
Hi there all, been a while, I have a question if anyone is willing to help.

I recently bought an LCD monitor to replace my CRT. First thing I noticed in Q2 is that I have tearing artifacts due to my Q2 framerate being so much higher than the LCD can handle (878 fps on demo1 compared to what I assume is a refresh rate of 60 for the monitor). However, when I turn VSync on I lose the ability to crate jump etc.

Is there any way to have VSync on and still be able to crate jump?

Thanks in advance.

Try setting cl_maxfps (or r_maxfps, if using r1q2) lower.

p.s. How do you like your new desk?

Haha took me a minute to get that one, the LCD seems miles away now, CRT used to be right in my face sticking out over the front of the desk with its back against the wall.

i tried r_maxfps, even lowered it to 30, but then it just gets really choppy with tearing.

haha :)

My r_maxfps is set to 120, I can see some screen tearing, but I really don't notice it while playing.

Shooting in the dark here, but are you running q2 in your monitors native resolution?

well its running in 800x600.

The monitor's resolution is 1440x900. Do you think that is it?
