Finally got around to watching Blade Runner yesterday cuz I've had the soundtrack for a while but god damn is the soundtrack amazing.

OK, I posted 3 links to Them Crooked Vultures songs and got one comment....they sound like another band/song. Are You kidding me? John Paul Jones should at least have garnered some attention; I grew up listening to him in Led Zeppelin and he still kicks ass. I thought it was noteworthy, but alas, I am old and no longer "hip". Is this band old news? I admit I don't get to hear anything but trite crap on rock radio stations around here. $:-\$

There isn't much difference. Personally I liked the previous album, Fun House (1970), a lot more. It's a little different than Raw Power. Raw Power had more contrast between the songs, sometimes using acoustic guitars, sometimes having a softer feel, other times get harder and heavier. Whereas Fun House was a little more of a psychedelic screaming wailing completely crazy bad acid trip all the way through it. Still, I just like how completely insane it sounds. The Stooges "comeback" album, The Weirdness (2007), was AWESOMELY good though, probably my favorite record Iggy ever did. It rocks your fucking balls off. If you're looking for mp3's to download, GET THIS ALBUM! I think the Stooges guitarist (whatever his name was) died a couple years ago. But The Stooges put out another album last year, Ready To Die, and it was a little bit of a miss as far as I'm concerned. I was all excited at first, thinking it would probably be better than The Weirdness. Nah. It sounds a lot closer to the stuff they were doing in 72-73 with more variation in tone and feel between songs, also utilizes horns a good bit more frequently. It's still pretty good, just not as good as The Weirdness, at least in my opinion, which is what disappointed me in it the most.

You heard wrong. Depends on what you like I guess. My tastes always lean more to the harder stuff. It's a little more hard rock and true punk rock than some of his other stuff. The way it's recorded, it gives it a pretty good live sound instead of a highly over-processed studio sound, kinda like you're sitting in the middle of a small hardwood jam room listening as they all play. Sometimes I like lots of processing and tweaking, but for the types of songs on this record, the whole "live feel" recording method really makes it all pop very well. Listen to it a few times through. If doesn't start really growing on you, then there's something wrong with your ears and go see a doctor.

I'll put it this way, the way my tastes stand currently... if I was being shipped off to a deserted island to live out the rest of my days and could only bring 10 CD's with me, this would most likely be one of the 10.
