Essentially a faithful recreation of the original MIDI tracks, with real guitar.

That might be the standard for how legendary your video game is and will always be: how many people instantly recognize the music from it. Super Mario from the original Nintendo, Tetris from Gameboy, and Doom from PC, probably the 3 most instantly recognizable tunes. I spent countless evenings after school or work as a young teen playing the Doom1 shareware version over and over. Those songs are burned into my brain forever now.
Strange coincidence, I've actually been noodling around playing that "Hiding the secrets" song within the last couple of days. The way I've been playing it uses open strings rather than straight ahead power chords.

I found it through one of those reaction channels. I've actually discovered a lot of new (to me) music in recent times by seeing what youtubers have been reacting to.

That sucks. I always "kinda" liked Rush and first found out about them back in middle school when they used to play the title track from Roll The Bones on the local Atlanta rock station 96Rock (not around anymore). I didn't really get into their catalogue until probably the last year when I started
really
listening through their discography in its entirety. Like many fans I suppose, their earlier stuff interested me more. In particular, I became most fond of their album Hemispheres from 1978 for it's 70's progressive rock style as well as the concept album theme throughout it. All of the songs fit together and belonged on the album. For a few weeks there, I was listening to it over and over and over, CONSTANTLY, just couldn't put it down. But really, those 3 albums they did from 1978 to 1981 (Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures) were all brilliantly written and arranged.

If you're in need of a good cry, and you're struggling to get it out, this might help. This was recorded in 1996. The artist would die 10 months after this was recorded (at age 33) from cancer which she didn't know she had at the time:

Sort of an odd one. An older lady that plays rock guitar.
I've become a pretty big Robin Trower fan over the last few years, and honestly I find his music a little more inspiring and accessible than Jimi Hendrix, which is perhaps guitar heresy... but, whatever, I am what I am. I suppose this lady has somehow gotten to know Robin Trower himself, perhaps he's come into contact with her after seeing one of her videos playing one of his songs. And in her earlier videos, she's not that great with her technique, but her usage of effects to recreate Trower's various sounds is usually as close to spot-on as you can get.
I suppose she's also gotten to know Trower's old drummer Bill Lordan, because apparently she got some old unifinished recordings from him and played around with it. The results are pretty cool in my opinion. I suppose the only parts with Bill actually playing the drums is the last minute from about 2:00 to the end, and it's fucking KILLER!

That last video the drumming kinda reminded me of Buddy Rich.
WOW. That's all you can say watching/hearing Buddy Rich. Neil Peart, John Bonham, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, blah blah blah. They're almost amateurs compared to him.

This showed up in my recommends. Eccentricity + talent + impeccable musicianship.

(Full band kicks in just after 3:30)
Edit: haha @ 9:15 - just when I thought it was about to lapse into pure camp, they tapped into some macabre undercurrent and just played the hell out of it
