Chanced to hear Pixies U-Mass this evening, and was reminded what must be the polar opposite of the

For whatever reason this is really doing it for me right now (though regrettably the youtube 480p version below sounds a little grainy by comparison...)

Just got back from seeing Primus and Tool at San Diego SDSU Arena. Sound was rather good for an arena venue. Really good show. Primus only got about 45 minutes to play, but they were their inimitable eccentric selves, and it was nice to hear Tim Alexander on drums again.
Tool sounded awesome. That drummer.... goddamn.

God damn, they're dropping like flies!
Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister died right after Xmas of some kind of seriously terminal brain cancer that had only been discovered about 2 days before his death.
And yesterday, David Bowie died from some kind of cancer.
FUCK YOU, CANCER! YOU SUCK!

This song makes me laugh. It's not really even supposed to be funny. It's supposed to be scary and horror-filled, but it just kinda comes off humorous in my opinion. A fun sing-a-long song.

'thought this was a nice tribute/cover of Ronnie James Dio-era Sabbath' The Mob Rules:

But holy goddamn: the rapidity of the picking during the outro solo.
I'm looking at my metronome
wtf?
(P.S. also props to the finger-style bass

Been listening to lots of classic Judas Priest from the 70's lately. Was looking around youtube and found clips of their performance on the Old Grey Whistle Test back in 1975. Then, like we all often do (I know, right?), I got totally and completely lost randomly clicking on people's cover versions of Priest songs they unashamedly posted to abuse the ears of the world. One of my favorite Priest songs is "Run of the Mill" from their first album, Rocka-Rolla (1974). This is the original Judas Priest version:

Several people did covers, some plain awful, some crappy, some a little better than crappy but still not very good. None were noteworthy AT ALL in my opinion. But this one... it's so god damned bad, it's fucking hilarious. VERY noteworthy for the sake of unintentional comedy.

And because once wasn't enough, he fucking did it AGAIN. And somehow by the grace of god it got even worse.

Whatcha wanna bet this dude has Erowid.com bookmarked on his browser?
One of the comments on the last one is brilliant: "Man, stick to playing the triangle."

Nice, hadn't heard anything off Rocka-Rolla in ages. Brings back memories (late '80s is when I'd first begun listening to earlier JP: Stained Class (1978); Sin After Sin (1977); etc.)

Have fun cleaning the bird shit outta those pickups.
Speaking of Yardbirds, this whole album is good. Side 1 Track 2 (@4mins) kinda reminds me of Frank Zappa.
