It's not just guns that are prohibited but any knife, tool, camera, memory device, laptop (unless listed and registered), personal tools, non-contractor owned devices or tools, that are prohibited on nuclear resource sites. This is a federal requirement. If you want a list of "prohibited items" I can probably locate the list I was given. In my job I have to deal with all kinds of issues like this. The guys guarding one recent place I was at wore desert camo, toted AR's and even searched the car at the gate. Not your average Pinkerton dudes.

Answer NO when asked if you are bringing any prohibited items.
Serious stuff.
I had to list and have serial numbers for all test equipment and PC's and hard drives.
You can't even bring in a Leatherman tool because it has a blade.

9mm is a minimum round for a CC wep. Nobody but a punk-ass gangsta would carry a .22 cal. You carry .40 cal. if your serious and .45 cal. for one-shot, one-kill. Daddy smokes big fatties.

So many replies on various subjects here, but I'll stick to this....the above is true: 9mm; I won't bet my life on it. FMJ ammo cycles fine in most autos of all calibers, but does your self defense hollow point round cycle in yours? If you don't know, you are a fool.

Self defense weapon: .22? LAST resort.

Yeah, I think you're better off throwing the pistol at the persons head than shooting it at them. :lolsign:

It was in response to Focalor's post about the places a CWP is valid. Nuclear site security is probably the tightest, then sites where they make fancy aircraft.
Let's just say I get around. My customers are airframe manufacturers, rocket builders and places where they make hardware for "nuclear wessels" and "nuclear boombas". I was recently at a site in Nevada where the security was especially federal and they had a long list of rules and took every one of them very seriously. What a hassle. The contents of my car, tools, etc. changes depending on where I have to drive and what the job is. Tool bag is a hassle when I fly too. Lots of layoffs in manufacturing makes me especially busy these last few years. Not much time for fun.

Here in Mississippi the legislature passed an "enhanced" conceal carry permit law last year.  You have to go through an 8 hour NRA type training session conducted by the Department of Public Safety to get it.  I have heard an attorney explain the technicalities on the radio, but I'm not sure if he is 100% correct or not.  According to him, there are only 3 places you cannot conceal carry: inside a courtroom (a courthouse is fine); inside a police station; and in an area where illegal activities are going on.  That leaves most places safe to carry.  I'm guessing if a private business posted a sign saying "no conceal carry allowed" that would be an exclusion.  I'm also wondering if employers (such as state agencies) could just prohibit it by policy.  I'm anxious to find answers to these questions.  I'm also a little paranoid about "registering" ANY firearm, so I don't know if I'll even pursue it.  In my mind, all states should be like good ol' Vermont, Louisiana, and several other states.....open carry baby!

Pretty sure in all states that have concealed carry with permit only, concealed carry is still prohibited at sporting events like NFL, baseball stadiums, racetracks, etc. Also prohibited in places that serve alcohol. That means if you wanna have a steak at Longhorn Steakhouse with a glass of iced tea, you have to leave your pistol in the car because they serve beer also. You don't HAVE to, I mean how many times have you ever heard of people being arrested in a restaurant. But if you've got a permit and you do it anyway, better make sure no one sees it and better hope you aren't miraculously lucky enough to HAVE to pull it out and use it. Best to be smart though and don't test your luck. If your server catches a glimpse of the gun butt in the holster if your jacket pops open at the right time, they're liable to make your meal an unpleasant one by calling up the cops to come check you out.

Good points.  Again, I'm curious just how far this "enhanced" version goes.  I am surprised it's not being discussed more than it has been so far.  Might scare the folks afraid of law abiding gun owners too much?  Not sure.  :?:

That is a stupid gun.  :lolsign:

It's not like a side-by-side shotgun, there is no spray pattern. The only thing hitting something with two bullets at once is gonna do is just tear a slightly larger hole in something. It won't be nearly as accurate as a single barrel 1911, so it really doesn't matter how much damage it can do in one single hit because you're gonna end up tossing the round over the top of the target.

Maybe should've posted this in the politics section, but since it pertains to firearms, I figured it should go here.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

All too often, law enforcement officers will take advantage of the fact that most people are not fully aware of all of their rights. This happens so often that sometimes even law enforcement officers THEMSELVES aren't fully aware of people's individual rights.

You DO NOT have to show a cop your ID just because they ask to see it. They only need to see identification if they are charging you with a crime. In some states, you have the RIGHT to openly carry a firearm in belt holster in public (if you are not a convicted felon) and you DO NOT need a permit and you DO NOT have to show ID. If you are ever questioned by a cop for doing so, it always best to say as little as possible. They DO NOT have the right to detain you against your will if they are not charging you with a crime.

Here's a few videos I found as examples:

Was looking at several other related videos. This one's pretty funny. I'm about 99% sure that if this guy gets a lawyer, he won't be convicted of any of the 4 citations. :lolsign: HOWEVER... lawyers do cost money. So he'll still pay lawyers fees. But that price might be worth the comedy in the video.

That's fucked,   he ASKED what happened if he didn't sign it.

If the cop had said "Well,  you'll get another ticket for that as well.  Still don't want to sign?"

I'm sure a signature would have ensued.

Everyone in the video is retarded though.

Dunno if you screwed around clicking any of the other related videos, but there was one I saw about some dude in a Hardee's getting harassed by an ex-cop for open carrying. Meanwhile, the dumbass bitch woman with the guy open carrying was damn near SCREAMING at the dude about "NO, IT'S NOT AGAINST THE LAW, I WAS A COP FOR 6 YEARS, BLAH BLAH!" That is NOT the way to handle that situation AT ALL, because that only serves to escalate a conflict.

I agree that people should be allowed to open carry if they aren't felons, but I don't think people should be so fucking surprised and offended when a police officer eventually does want to see their ID and check them out and all that shit. Whether it is or isn't against the law to do so, if they don't follow up on a complaint about it and at least ATTEMPT to get you to show your ID so they can check you out and something happens later and that same person goes shooting up a public place, that cop would be in DEEP DOO DOO. Cops are more worried about protecting themselves than anyone else, both physically and legally.
