Communications Satellite

Anyone else hate the Communications Satellite map? I think the low-gravity is annoying and I always see a bunch of people quit when it starts. It's too big ("that's what she said!"  lol jk ) and when everyone quits, it takes forever to hit the frag limit and get to the next map.

Who else would like to see this map removed?

Learn how to use the grav change to your advantage and speed through the air using some arc strafing while jumping. You'd be amazed how fast it can go once you stop letting it bother you.

Could drop the fraglimit if enough people feel the same.   (like on Train - fraglimit 20)(or is it 15)

Is this the map called space?  I such a nilla-noob I'm not sure. 
But only one I know of with low grav.  I'm fine with it when I play.

Get the red armor,  and a rail,  and the frags keep coming.
actually,  thats the way it is on most maps....

Learn how to use the grav change to your advantage and speed through the air using some arc strafing while jumping. You'd be amazed how fast it can go once you stop letting it bother you.

Yeah, it can be a little annoying sometimes, you just gotta know how to move around. Try not to jump when no one is around and do all your moving on the floor. Only jump when it's absolutely necessary. If you run into someone armed with a rocket launcher, you'll probably want to jump, but make sure you don't jump towards any nearby walls for them aim at to inflict splash damage from the rockets. If they're a good enough a shot, they'll time the rockets to hit the floor around you whenever you land, so you have to keep jumping. On that map, weapons like the machine gun and chaingun are the best weapons to use against someone with a rocketlauncher. When facing someone with a railgun, it's really not a good idea to hop and get airborne because it's easier to predict your movement and land the shot. Stay on the floor and strafe around in erratic circles to make it harder to hit you. The weapon placement on that map is pretty convenient, there is a machinegun and 1 or 2 boxes of bullets placed in the corner right before you reach the ledge overlooking where the railgun is placed. Always pick that up and get it ready before heading out to the railgun. As you float down to the railgun, it's a good idea to scan around that entire room to make sure no one is camping in a corner just waiting to pick you off as you near the railgun. People sometimes love to hide in the corner right beside that teleporter on the opposite end of that room.

The hyperblaster can often be one of the hardest weapons to use effectively, especially from a distance. But given where it's located, it's the one weapon you'll probably pick up first a lot of the time. If someone hops, you'll want to try to predict their travel path through the air. Rather than wasting valuable time and ammo trying to place all the shots on the person, just sweep it back and forth far enough ahead of the person that at least some of the shots will hit them. The closer you are to the person, the easier this will be. If you can use it properly, the hyperblaster is actually one of the best weapons in the game. Not only does it chew away at health points rapidly, it removes armor and power armor points from a person faster than any other weapon.

As Reflex mentioned, one of the most effective weapons to use on this map is the railgun. That's why it's important that if your health is at 100 to try to find at least one armor shard to give you 2 armor points or one stimpack to give you 102 health points so that you can survive one railgun hit.

Word maaan this map can be so frustrating and all the good weapons are so hard to get to from the spawns. I can honestly say I would like this map removed also.

I like the altered physics when throwing nades - it's possible to launch nades like slow moving rockets practically in a straight line for a certain distance, depending on how long you hold it with the pin out.

This is a lot of fun with a gravity of about 300 or even 250. The gravity in space.bsp is 100. I honestly think that it is way too low and was a poor decision even for single player. Something like 300 would have given the same effect and still left the map very playable.

There are so many situations where you can get stuck in the nooks and crannies in the ceiling, and the way that q2 works, you do not immediately start you decent when you touch a ceiling. So you can get stuck and left out of a fight for a few seconds, which garuntees that you will both miss the kill and not be able to pick up the weapon they drop.
