funny.. about once a year people complain about the maps, and don't actually offer us options other than "someone else do the work and find maps I won't complain about". that's not a fucking option people. nobody is sitting around with extra time on their hands to devise a new rotation of maps that they've calculated are suited just for you with their special psychic powers.

That's like asking your old lady what they want for dinner and getting in reply "I don't know, what do you want for dinner?!"
For every map you shit on, SUGGEST ANOTHER THAT IS BETTER SUITED FOR RAILZ so people can vote on it's inclusion in the rotation.

The maps aren't whats making the server empty lately anyway, it's the fact that lately only about 4-5 people are ever on railz and on half of the maps, one of those 4-5 is a whiner who can't play anything but maps they like and they leave or go spec. The other half of the time, someone shows up, does over 400fph, and within 2 maps everyone else leaves.

When an instagib server gets below a critical mass of about 3-4 active players it goes empty real fast since nobody went there to play duel.

Truth. Sometimes I'll stick around for 1on1, but I prefer to see 4 to 8 players. Usually when it's 1on1 or 1on2 (3 people), the other two numbskulls do nothing but duck behind cover, pop out long enough to take a cheap pot shot, then duck back behind something. That shit gets annoying. I end up having to maneuver my way to cut them off from using a corner as cover, forcing me to occupy a small area so they can't use the corner, giving them a more stationary target. I came to FIGHT, not play hide-n-seek. People still do it with 10 people there, but at least then there's enough people running around that it becomes too difficult to successfully hide from everyone. It's called FFA. That stands for "FUCKING FIGHT, ASSHOLES!"

and no, its not cause i talk shit and be a douche, hardly talk when im on railz unless the server is dead and the last 1 or 2 people are chatty

there is a couple maps that are kinda boring, some of them are pretty fun though :) i think some maps like q2next1 are a little worse for the server, tend to have less fun on a tighter map like that just because its a lot of get a kill here, then travel through narrow hallways and such to get a kill on the other side of the map.... lot of hunting down :( something just as small and tight, but at the same time a little more free flowing like duel5 might actually work good in its place

i think wiping the whole map list would suck, but swapping out a few would definitely be a plus :) definitely have to keep q2dm1nc it makes a great railz map


EDIT: can last 4-6 maps if they think you hack and want proof :D but the generally spec up half of each round...

i agree that yes some of the maps should go and new ones come in, not all though. Last time they took maps out they did not replace them, i think there were 3 or 4 taken out last time so the rotation is down 3-4maps from what it used to be. either way railz could use a fresh lineup

maps that should go simply because they are a server killer

TLTF (server killer)

q2dm8 (server killer, people complain it's too big when only a few are there)

locus - insta by maric (server killer, don't know the correct name for it)

gym (server killer)

ven_dm4 (Don't mind this map but alot complain about it and it is a server killer)

Jabs (Big ugly grey space map another server killer)

There's too many good maps to completely wipe the list. We could certainly use some new maps, but I can't really offer any suggestions either. The full mymap list has some good ones, but quite a few bad ones. I'm sure this has been brought up elsewhere over the years, but what about the implementation of a vote to immediately change the map? There's been many times where too many people won't play the current map and leave rather than wait it out, leading to death of the game. Could even require a 2/3 or 3/4th vote; it would still save some server deaths from what goes on now.

the water level you are referencing, is that the one thats just entirely under water and has staggered spawn pads and shit?

those are NOT in the rotation, and for good reason... i always get 800-1200 fph on those maps, and i don't like them either :/ the only good thing about them is if people keep respawning they end quicker, the problem is people do stop respawning so it will likely take the full 10 minutes

There's two that are entirely under water. The good one is ehwpit. It's blue, and there's at least 6 spawn pads and some columns. The one I'm talking about only has a couple spawn pads, is much higher with air available at the very top, and the walls are all gray, with no columns.

Back in the day, I played nothing but fast rockets/fast hook lithium. It was all about FPH, that's what's the most fun for me... could hit 1500-1800fph once an hour or so. Quite a few people could beat me 1v1, but when it came to FPH in a 6+ person game, I was at the very tippy top level; unlike now where it feels like I'm barely in the top 50%. So now the maps that let you recapture the feeling of incredible FPH are my favorites; ehwpit on railz is the only place I can even break 1000 these days. But 800 on maps like carena are still fantastic fun. So I mymap those for reasons other than pissing off Alpha, although how much he hates my favorites is always good for a chuckle.

i can't even enjoy a high fph on an underwater map.... its just too easy and has nothin to it :/

just play a normal map, keep firing shots, and try not to miss :) the fph just happens

i rarely lose a railz match, and i know i dont play as much as i used to... but i can tell ya, fph doesn't really mean anything :) get some better players in the server and even some one like me when i was active would be dropped down to like 300 fph on the server cause the fights were more intense, the players moved smarter, and it was a lot less easy frags... some times its bein a little slow on the server too, maybe there is only 4 people and they arent pokin their heads out enough for a good fph, just make your own fun and go for some sick shots or jumps with shots or something :)

i can enjoy a slow match or railz, i know not everyone can.... but some people are too absorbed in the frantic KILL AS FAST AS YA CAN! instead of havin some fun

ya might enjoy quite a few more maps if ya broadened your play style a little bit :)

Been randomizing rotation for a while to play "fresh" (old new) maps. It has always been about removing maps from rotation and shit. ¿How about adding these maps to rotation for a while and later people can vote which of these to keep?

a switch up to the railz rotation might be nice as it has been static for awhile now... no idea what to change about it though :P

What is the current rotation?

Some of the maps listed in post #1 aren't in my railz map folder and I feel like I have played on that server enough to have gotten it at least once.

Personally, there are some maps I don't want to be in rotation. I've really haven't payed attention to the names so I don't have them atm.
