Quake 2 Demos to video

Try this:


Type the following commands in the console:

gl_mode 2

(start a game in a map, for example "map q2dm1")

record <demo name>   (for example: "record q2demo")
stop (to stop the record of the demo)

avi_codecmenu 1
avi_codec divx   (or for example "avi_codec xvid")
(if you have divx or xvid installed, for more video codecs names see http://www.fourcc.org/ for more info)

aviexport <framerate> <demo name> <avi name>
(for example : "aviexport 15 q2demo q2demo")

Ah...! The avi_codecmenu isnt in Quake2 but in windows and looks like this!!

Now i have two ways to export .dm2 to .avi. And now that i know how to do it in aprq2 itll be most likely my favorite method.

Btw: The filesize doesnt change much at alll if i change the framerate (aviexport <framerate here> ... ...)from 10 to 15 and 20. its from 8,05 mb at 10 to 8,22mb at 20 frames. The video here is at 10 frames per second.

aprq2 was the only way I managed to do it,

That early screenshot with the lines and static at the bottom,  happens every so often,..  but
redo the avi with the same settings again and it's fine,  uaually

The last video looks really good,  I need to play with the codecs and settings a lil more.
only ever used the basic microsoft ones with 30 fps
