Those drums were made out of the same brittle material that the first records were made from before they got the bright idea to switch to vinyl which was a little more durable and flexible. My mother has told me stories about how her and my aunt once gathered all of my grandfathers old 45's when they were kids and threw them like frisbees against the wall to watch them explode into a million pieces. I can't see why in the hell someone would let a butterfingers like that crusty old fart handle it, especially with bare hands. The oils from his hands would cause oxidation. But MOSTLY... look at the tremors in his hands! He looks like he's going through DT's or the onset of Parkinsons!
