Okay I want to connect to and ltk bot server and on this pc I keep getting


GETPAK: WSEACONNRESET


what can i do, if i can at all??

I have always thought you only get that error message when the server has crashed.

on my pc it runs fine i connect through gamespy and boom it goes.

then i go onto my fathers pc and i just type in the server ip and it wont even begin to connect it goes right to the error.

the only difference that i noticed about our pcs is i still run 98 and he has xp and idk if that has anything to do with it

he may have windows firewall running on his xp machine, which would be blocking your outbound packets.

3 questions:

what kind of windows XP is it?
has windows popped up a message box and asked you to allow/unblock anything when you run q2?
can you connect to any other q2 server on your dad's comp?


the following should apply if your answers were:

windows XP Pro SP2, NO, and NO.

If it hasn't asked you to unblock it (I dont think it will unless you are using a user account with admin privaledges) you should go into the control panel section, and select windows security center.
from here you can access the windows firewall controls and set quake2 (or r1q2.exe or whatever) to being allowed or unblocked or something along those lines.

hmm. that sounds like a problem on their end then.
(the server in question, or one of their routers fucking up..)
