Xatrix To Vanilla Converted Maps!!

heyas

xatrix has some of the nicest dm maps around, so iv converted all fo them to be used in vanilla dm (minus xdm7 which is basicly edge)
i of course take no credit for making the maps, only simply renaming some of the maps entities to be compatible with vanilla dm
all of them come with thier required textures and env files

xdm5-xt-a is a tweaked version of the one i had done before

if people are interested... i may do the same for rogue maps
although i dont think they are as nice

i did do one already, the super big edge map (though its been done already)

awesome dude. I've always thought DM maps should be made compatible with regular old q2 if they
aren't completely mod-specific. The Xatrix ones are quite nice and without the mod entities they should make for some
really nice FFA vanilla maps.

I know it's not the toughest thing to do, but you did make the effort, and that's what counts!
Most people aren't even willing to try.

don't sell yourself short either... There are tons of quake 2 players who have never even run qbsp.exe...
You know more than you think! You have good ideas when it comes to mapping and this is vitally important
to the whole process.

Mapping is 90% imagination. The technical skills that make up the rest, you can quickly pick up by
reading tutorials. Practice is nice too..

You should check out the insta-gib map I just released over in the map requests board
(I know this is shameless self-promotion, but aw hell, someones gotta do it...)
I'd say it's a good example of a decent map that took no real "skill" to make.
Just a couple days and a bit of imagination. The brushwork is all incredibly simple...
