NEWS UPDATE: 'XQUAKE' RETURNS.

Hallelujah!  Excelsior!  ... Zang!

xquake.net arena configuration is back.  In co-operation with xquake we've been sending xquake traffic to vanilla for several months because of bad server lag on xquake.  Now xquake is back in its old-skool single-player configuration.

As a shortcut you can still get to vanilla by saying "goto vanilla".  And from there bounce back to xquake with "goto xquake".

Whoop, sorry that's your line. 

The xquake server is hosted on a computer (old pentium III maybe, 128 MB ram) where we have little influence over the workload assigned to the machine.  So it bogs down sometimes handling email for some of its users who have very large inboxes (for ex.)  Other than writing to the sysadmin when it gets realllly bad, there's not a lot we can do.

On tastyspleen, our goal is to keep the q2 servers as lag-free as possible.  They do share the CPU with other processes, such as database engines and web server software, etc.  But the quake servers are the highest priority processes on tastyspleen. ... AS IT SHOULD BE, NATURALLY.
