Building r1q2ded-old from Source

The last archive of r1q2 source code is here:
https://github.com/tastyspleen/r1q2-archive
I have been asked a couple of times now this year how to build r1q2ded-old but I don't have the answer. It's probably staring me in the face and I can build r1q2ded b8012 without much trouble but I'm not sure how to do it with the existing source. All the links in the readme.txt file are dead.
If it's possible to do it I'd like to document it here or in the TS repository for historical purposes.

Hmm. I don't recall ever having built r1q2ded-old.
I'd thought it was identical to regular r1q2ded, except for linking with an older libc or somesuch.
However, I'm not seeing much difference, apart from the omission of libgcc_s.so.1 in the non-old case:
$ ldd ./r1q2ded-old
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xf2e9a000)
libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0xf2e64000)
libz.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libz.so.1 (0xf2e4f000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0xf2e4b000)
libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0xf2cf9000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xf2e9b000)
$ ldd ./r1q2ded
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xece62000)
libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0xece2c000)
libz.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libz.so.1 (0xece17000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0xece13000)
libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1
(0xece06000)
libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0xeccb3000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xece63000)
So, unfortunately I'm not sure what needs to be changed in order to build the *-old version.

I've identified the main difference: the old game DLLs had a different set of exported functions. This is where the "Loaded Game DLL, version 3" comes into play. Old mods used a different set of exported functions in GetGameAPI and it looks like the only difference between v2 and v3 was the addition of the ServerCommand function.
The r1q2 sources I have for b7904 and b8012 don't seem to have switches for the -old capability. Presumably, r1ch never published the source for r1q2ded-old.
I'm experimenting with modifying an old v2 game into a v3 DLL and will report results once I am successful. This might allow someone to port source from an old game into a new game

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
