Which map version?

So how does the map rotation determine which map version plays? What I mean is: Moebius Trip has a version with the invul in it and a version that doesn't. How is that determined? Just curious.

There are 4 map rotations: Small, Med, Large and, XL, with various map versions of increasing size, which are chosen randomly from those maplists based on the number of players currently on the server. The server also uses map overrides that allows for multiple versions of the same map to exist, and that was probably the case with the Moebius Trip map.

So what determines which version of the map? Is it just random? I would say 90% of the time I'm in the Moebius map, it's the one without the invul.
And while we're at it, what determines the location of the Gauss gun? I've noticed it's in many different places in different instances of the same map. I'm just curious about the technical stuff.

Yes all the maps are random, and the Gauss gun is special, because it's the only gun that gets spawn randomly on spawns pads.
