Connection issues with r1q2

so my configs are write protected, i set pretty much every variable in my autoexec, and i havent added any files since the last time i played... however, today i kick up r1q2 and it wont load :/ does the full connect in console, but instead of kicking me into the game, it stays black and the console stays down

this is with AC, so looks normal but freezes at the end

well i was tryin to connect to t4 first, same thing... so completely different server even

and i can load maps locally, dm1 kicked right up local

In that case i'd suggest trying a fresh install to a different folder ( http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/ )

See if that version works...

narrowed it down to my autoexec.cfg :/ will attach instead of putting it in code tags cause its kinda big...

it hasnt changed at all though, and i havent updated anything like r1gl or r1q2... tried it with the q2 starter as well and it produced the same problem... ugh no clue whats going on with it >_<

Does your config.cfg become 'infected' by the autoexec.cfg settings?

I.e., once you've loaded the autoexec and the problem happens, can you remove autoexec, restart q2, and still get the problem based on what's now auto-saved in config.cfg?

(or is your config.cfg write-protected anyway?)

config.cfg is write protected, basically can just comment autoexec.cfg so it doesnt load and it lets me right in

ok wtf lmao

changed it to brokeautoexec.cfg so it wouldnt load when i kick it up... connect to mutant, then did an exec brokeautoexec.cfg and guess what... works perfect... its just failing to do it when the map loads wtf

the offending command was

set net_maxmsglen "0"

sets the max size of udp packets, 0 defaults to max but it wasnt happy :/ so set it back to its default value and its all good now
