I have absolutely no problem with people believing in God or whatever else they find faith in, but what I do have a problem with is all these people on here pulling random quotes from the bible and saying "here read this, this will solve all your problems" There is just too much descrepency in the content of the bible to truely TRUELY follow God's word precisely. For example:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I myself was raised Catholic, but what turned me away was the hypocrisy of the church. They twist the words of God to suit them, they pick and choose from the bible instead of following it completly. I'm not here to be an angry athiest and demean your God, but I would like to know why do you present the bible as such a sacred book, yet you only follow the passages in it that best suit your lifestyle?

Considering that's all from the Old Testament, I dunno if I'd be directing those questions at "Christians" (any various denomination) as much as the jews who deny that the New Testament is the word of God. If anyone should be following these laws, it's them. But at least they don't eat hot dogs.

Why?  Christian leaders cite the Old Testament at any and every convenience.  And why not?  After all, Jesus specifically stated all of the Old Testament law must be obeyed.  (Matthew 5:17-18)

At the same time, his words and teachings found in the New Testament contradicted a heaping helping of those same laws. Apparently Jesus Christ himself picked and chose which ones were still commercially viable. So by reason of insanity, I'm going to rule Christians out of the argument momentarily while I scratch my head wondering why a few skullcapped psychos aren't out stoning people to death on a weekly basis. I guess because the law in the United States of America forbids it. Yahweh bless the USA.

Christianity takes everything from the jews, but that easily could apply to most of society as well. Most of the people who post on this forum live their life in a Jewish way more than likely. The Jews were the first to break off from a cyclical outlook on life which constrained people to live a life that was not within their own control('Pagan' is the easiest way to refer to it, but not necessarily applying to all.) This new belief that events in one's life are ACTUALLY unique(actually matter), and not controlled by several gods and idols in itself was more revolutionary than perhaps anything in civilization.

...slowly onward to the topic: Many christians may not accept old testament / jewish teachings, but that's only because Christianity has been heavily manipulated ever since the council of nicea and still does to this day to whatever leaders of the next generation seem fit. As quadz said, Jesus was a Jew and taught Jewish ways. I thought Jesus's primary focus was to let every one else in on the covenant that Abraham's God had with the Jewish people? At least that's what history tells us, but contemporary Christianity would beg to differ.

Yeah I've always disliked the "under god" part. Politics and religion are probably my two least favorite things, period. However, even without religion in my life, I still recognize Jewish contributions. Concepts of love, peace, unity, loyalty, trust, equality, empathy, friendship, time, future, past....i know I'm forgetting about 50 more words as well that they invented(both the word and principle) but yeah: All the good stuff came from the Jews... Not "Good christians" like most of our country.

The import tax on a canadian is way too much and by the time they get through customs they are usually dead anyway. Just go for a mexican the cost in pesos is ways less and they can survive in a 4x4 crate for 10 days with very little food or water.
