Tourney 3rd Edition (Novice - Map Numbers & Selection)
« on: August 27, 2005, 10:07:58 PM »
It was suggested to me that we allow more maps and a different map selection for the Novice Bracket. Seeing as this bracket is pretty much free - I started a vote.

5 Maps Pre-determined is the current one: the 5 voted maps from the nominees will fill in a template which will indicate what map will be played for which match on which round, all before the tourney starts.

8 Maps Pre-determined, same as above, but three more maps.

8 Maps Randomly Assigned. 8 Maps voted from the nominees. At each GameThread, three maps will be randomly picked from the 8-Maps, for the three two/three matches to be played.

10 Maps Randomly Assigned, same as above, but two more maps.

----

This will allow for diversity and surprises which might suit more properly the expectations of the novice participants.

I voted for having 10 maps being randomly-assigned throughout the tourney for the Novice bracket.  3 random ones will be assigned to each match in any order.  There are no set "tie breaker" maps either.

I personally believe it's more fun this way.  You won't know what to expect until you see which maps were assigned to your match in your Game Thread.  And having 10 maps = more variety, which is something everyone should enjoy.

Hope some of you like this idea.  Having pre-determined maps is not nearly as interesting as randomly-assigned maps.  ;)

Great news, 9 out of the 15 people who voted on here seemed to like the idea of randomly-assigned maps.  This will require people to practice on all 10 maps throughout the whole tourney since you are no informed on what maps you will be playing on until your Game Thread is created.  I'm sure everyone will end up liking this as the tourney progresses...
