stats seem right for my needs, but anything I need to be aware of or anything?

Does your motherboard support SATA3 and does your power supply support SATA or do you have an adapter to do so? If so then that drive will do just fine compared to your current one.

I was under the impression that it was a SATAII drive :S, I do believe I have a sata power connector (or I can just order one), and errrr, I REALLY DONT KNOW :< it says SATA but I dont know whether that means sata2 or what :<

If it's a legit Windows XP cd with no manufactures logo on it (dell, hp) then you shouldn't have trouble using it... before I reinstall I like to 'zero out' my hard drive by using a free program called Kill Disk... performs a low level format that overwrites all data with 0's. Anything that use to exist on the drive is gone.

but yeah to install windows you need load the cd before windows loads.

I think it is a legit disc, I will check tonight.  I do load the cd before booting, but once I start the reinstall, I get that error.  I will try it this weekend, maybe, and write down the exact error.  Thanks.
