My own server, need help.

Well, i figured out how to make a dedicated server but i still don't know what the IP is of my server. I also don't know if i need to open a new port (27910) so players can access my server.  I tried the LAN IP, but they don't work for other players (they do for me).  I heard you need to change some numbers 192.168.x.xx or something?

I tried google and stuff but nothing...you're my only hope! 
I use a router. Reply soon!

IPconfig in command prompt says this.

Also, when i try to select the Quake 2 service (client and server) i get a message:

192.168.x.x is a LAN IP address.  Nobody will be able to connect to that except people on your LAN.

It's really hard to explain to someone how to host a server when they have zero clue what they are doing... you should do some research yourself and once you get to a point where you have something going perhaps we can be of more help.

Ok, when i try to connect to my server i get this:

Not happening with other servers. What does it mean?

fastest way to find your ip is just www.whatismyip.com in a web browser.

Open up the ports needed for the server.  If you are just running one, and dont define the port, it will default to 27910.

If you have issues connecting to your own server by external ip, you can still use your internal ip, the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx.

There should be loads and loads of information on the net in describing how to run servers for these types of games.

Set port protocol to UDP, or both UDP and TCP, when configuring port forwarding in your router.

Your buddies on the internet need to know and connect to your WAN IP address and your router/firewall needs to have UDP 27910 open and forwarding to your server IP and port.

You can connect internally to the 192.168.1.11 address if your router doesn't like accepting your connection to the WAN address. Some routers will handle route-backs via the WAN IP, some won't.
