Gainesville is kinda far from Athens Pizza (Athens Pizza is down in Atlanta basically - North Decatur/Emory University area, the NE edge of Atlanta.), dunno if you wanna make that trip. Then again...
I'm
basically in Gainesville, and sometimes I go that far for their pizza... it's that good.
Outside of the place.
Family owned place. Asiemoula Papadopoulos and her son Sandy Papadopoulos who took over after his father John Papadopoulos passed in 2002. Asie passed away a few years before covid. Strange going in there now and not seeing her. My family's eaten there since my grandpa got us hooked back in the 80's (he was living in nearby Avondale Estates). That lady was almost never NOT at the restaurant. Papadopoulos. Yes I copied and pasted that every time, because Greek last names are impossible to spell.
Not sure if they still do it on Thursday nights, but this is the lamb shank (pic must be from some catered thing). Served on orzo rice with roasted potato pieces. I usually get a Greek salad with it too. I ain't one to give a crap about salads, but... they got good salads. Even the salads are craveable stuff. Apparently they're now selling their own salad dressing too. Gonna have to swing by there before Christmas and buy a few bottles.
Some pizza porn...
This is the Santorini Special pizza. Feta cheese, sundried tomatoes, spinach, fresh garlic, artichoke hearts and Kalamata black olives. Looks sort of "vegan", but not really (due to the cheese I suppose). Not my favorite thing, cuz I usually like some kind of meat on my pizza, but still very good.
This is the Mediterranean. Extra cheese, feta cheese, big delicious chunks of gyro meat, big sliced tomatoes and Kalamata black olives. SLAP YO MOMMA good. All the pizza crust/dough is CRAZY good. Deep dish edges, kinda chewy and fluffy, I think they put a little bit of honey in the dough to make it sweeter.
Probably my favorite pizza, the Athens Special. Feta cheese, ground beef, sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and green bell peppers. The sausage is shaved in little falling apart pieces. The one pictured... not entirely typical. They kinda overdid it with the peppers on that one, but not by much. They ain't conservative with onions and peppers and meats, they load it up.
The All Meat pizza. Salami, sausage, pepperoni, ham, ground beef and Canadian bacon. There might be a little feta on there too under all the delicious dead animals. So good.

Found some of this stuff in the yellow tag clearance section of the Walmart grocery dept. I love Nerds candy, figured I'd try it.
Strawberry Nerds drink mix. Single packs you pour into a standard 16oz bottle of water. I kinda see now why it was marked down. I doubt anyone was buying it. It's like... not good.
It DOES taste a lot like the Nerds candy, but the fact that it's "zero sugar" means it uses aspertame or some shit for sweetener instead of sugar, so it tastes a little funny. If it was made with real sugar, it'd probably be pretty good.
Gonna try making some vodka slushies with it later this week.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
