Was wondering if anyone knew of some commands to make quake2 less laggy. The ones i know of are lowering maxfps lowering rate. Any info or suggestions would be helpful. I used to play quake2 with 300 ping back in the day and it was playable, but this just seems extremely laggy. Btw im on r1q2

As u know (or not) quake2 send 3times more data then receive so:

Limit your download speed on modem to get better upload (your goal is to get near upload max speed 33k )
If u connect to your isp with +52k that usually mean your upload speed is like 12k-14k
Dunno what kind of modem u have but here is command for most of them http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-linklimit.asp
check your modem driver/connection settings

turn off - ENABLE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION
turn off - FIFO BUFFER
use flow control HARDWARE

sometimes just limiting download speed u will get clear connection without errors because to much dl speed force modem to choke

remember not every modem work with every phone company 

i played 6 long years on dial up and changed several modems while i didn't find winner

in game r1q2
cl_maxfps 30-40 with cl_async 1
rate 4200 if ur limit dl speed on modem on 42000 etc.


PS. i would change this crap ADSL for my DialUP connection for sec but DialUP is dead here (get worst links)
