Jack White is one of the very few current rock guitarists I will listen to these days. He "gets" what the essence and feel of Rock should be. He finds a groove and works the best part of it. No playing various scales at warp speed. As far as the Edge, I gave up listening to U2 sometime in the early 90s when all that pretentious ballad shit started to come out of the band. I thought they were at their best with the Under a Blood Red Sky album style live sound. A lot of bands went that way back then. U2, Aerosmith and Simple Minds - to name a few.
