 :'( help!

im using r1q2 (even the latest version), and everytime i turn an horiziontal way with the mouse, it lags for a second. i notice it mostly when i try to make a rail shot.

 I ping an average on tastyspleen of 23 (100 somthing on nygang) . i even found the same problem when i was playing spq2.

heres the demo. in the demo, youll see my sudden turns when im trying to aim at someone at close range. (ive been keeping a certain distance from whoever im shooting at).

i didnt download the demo, but are you sure its not your mouse? does this only happen in quake? only in r1q2? im pretty sure you can change you x-y axis sensitivity independantly, i dont remember the command but its probably on http://www.planetquake.com/console/commands/quake_2.html#h-2.3

Try this, start r1q2, hit Escape and go to: Options > r1q2 options (somewhere near the bottom)
Set "XP mouse acceleration fix" to "disabled".

Or do it from the console, type: m_fixaccel 0

However as you can see explained in the r1q2 options you will need write the command in a config file. What I did was make a simple .txt file in which I wrote some specfic commands that for some reason are never stored in the default config. Save the file as .txt or .cfg and put it in baseq2. If you don't use one yet also make an autoexec.cfg file with the line exec yourstuff.txt

in baseq2/
yourstuff.txt (name of your extra config file)
m_fixaccel 0
cl_lights 0
gl_dynamic 0
etc....
you can write all commands here that are not being stored in the default config


autoexec.cfg
exec yourstuff.txt

Probably not related, but I had a similar problem which ended up being due to DirectX.  The game would "lag out" for a half second occasionally.  In my case simply changing a sound setting in %windir%\system32\dxdiag.exe was all I needed to do.  I think the setting was changed by another game during installation.

No problem... then don't change the gl_dynamic setting.
I just gave some examples of commands but in order to solve your mouse problem the only command that matters is the m_fixaccel "0"
