Author Topic: Help! Server Says im Flooding, im banned i think (Read 4058 times)

I dont know why Its saying im flooding!! as long as i sat there it was fine it was only after i started playing, I seen to have this trouble with any server running q2admin, Even set one up on my linux box and it kicks me out saying the same thing! any ideas ? i have a custon autoexec.cfg With My binds and r1gl Settings in it I dunno what it could be I tried a rate of 4000 b4 it banned me! oh yeah heres my settings... im on a 9mbit connection.... hell i dunno wut to do =(

Which server(s) is this happening on?

When you say you're banned... you can't connect at all?

The server this is happening on is tastyspleen.net:27912 tastyspleen.net::vanilla [sp maps]
it says Connection refused now This is after it kicked me 2 times for Supposedly flooding the server, If ya need my Ip to check ur logs for any clue, let me know ill Pm it to ya, And if ya tell me how to log my console, ill gladly do that and post it it Good luck!

to take logs from your console, you type condump <name> and then it will dump the entire console contents into a .txt file saved in your /baseq2/ dir, gl ;D

Sometimes after you get kicked there's a 90 second delay before you can connect again. (Although this typically happens only when you get disconnected without the server's knowing it.)

I don't find your IP in any of the ban lists. Let me know if you're still getting the error, and also if you can connect to any of the other servers (like mutant, railz...)

Ok i was able to connect this morning So tried 2 diffrent servers the Custom DM and SP but kick me out for the same thing, I even Redid my quake install just to see. heres a console log I removed the downloading maps etc crap from it. Also back on my own server, i tried this with out the r1gl Same thing.

does if say "fpsflood" because if it is, it may be that they have the cvar on the server "set fpsflood "xxx" set up. If so then turn down your maxfps in your config.

If this is the case then the kick error would tell you that your fps was too high, I think it say something like this, "kicked for trying to fps flood the server-fps168" or what ever your fps was.

you would need to know what TS has the cvar set at, I know I have it set at 130 on the DS servers, alot of servers have been doing this because the idoit evilpope has blocked fps caps and rate caps in q2a...he thinks that server admins are gay to cap these!

I mean after all what gives the admins the right to cap fps and rate to make there servers run better for everone, right ep?

so for now until he fixes this ( if ever ) that is the only way to keep fps flooding off the server, it just sux that we cant cap fps for q2a users, so they have to be kicked unless they keep their fps below the fpsflood cap.

I dont know why ep would have done that as fps caps are very important to a server, too high fps=big packets therefore more bandwidth usage, period.

Ok tried 100 and 50 fps, No luck =( PizzinMEoff lol This is all it says

PIZZEDMEOFF tried to Flood the server (2)
PIZZEDMEOFF was kicked
You were kicked from the game

as i said before, Its not just these servers, I set up my own with the default q2admin settings... and Yes My own lan server Kicks me saying the same thing.
I tried re installing quake2 No luck. Im about to Re try Software mode Just for the sake of saying i did that to.

<update> same problem even in software, I turned off downloads to Just incase.

What other settings are in your autoexec.cfg? You could try taking that +hook - hook command out of there since TS servers don't have the hook enabled anyway. I noticed quite a few times it says,
Unknown command "+hook"
Unknown command "-hook"
Just taking a wild guess, maybe it is flooding the server with this command. Try that and see if it helps.

Hi,

I checked the q2admin source code, and the particular kick you're triggering is due to your "userinfo" changing more than X times in 60 seconds.

You might try a "cvarlist" and check for any variables of type "U" that you don't think should be there. These cvars of type "U" are broadcast to the server in your userinfo.

Typical "U" cvars are things like: skin, rate, hand, name, gender, etc. (So, for instance, if you had one of those binds some people have that changes their skin every time they press a movement or weapon key, that would probably trip this userinfo flood.)

If you're unable to find a reason that your userinfo is changing, we can try to coordinate and I'll watch when you connect, and dump your userinfo, and try to determine which cvar is changing.

Very likely. Hand is a userinfo cvar. YOU ARE SPAMMING THE SERVER WITH YOUR HAND JIVE!!

Lmao Well after many hours of PURE fustration i found the problem with a little help from console, i learned not to use my hand Jive so much and flood the dog piss out of the servers.......Lmao! thanks for all the support! Console!
