Quad is a different story. The added quad to the dm1 was a two wrongs make a right type thing but ended up making it worse.

Ah yes.

For dm1, what I'd originally done was place a quad way up on the "roof" of dm1, as more of an easter egg - hard to get to. (Most players on vanilla/dm barely do jumps at all, let alone the rocket+grenade jump needed to get on the roof.)

At some point, later, someone suggested moving the quad down to the arena. I think it may have been because something similar was done in Quake 4?

But, it's been there ever since. (I'd actually almost forgotten it didn't used to be there!)

Oh man. I remember that. That was actually cool. After a rocket grenade jump your health/armor is pretty low which balances out the reward, plus anyone who goes up there wants to mess around opposed to hopping down. The RA underneath the stairs may even be worse in my opinion, but paired together :mrdead:

I didn't even know that RA was under the stairs for a long time. I remember one match where elysium hit the frag limit before me and I never died. I was holding down the mega health room the whole time assuming I'd win. Timing that RA and quad does wonders. It was just never my style in FFA :bigshades:

There ARE a couple of things that piss me off. Someone obviously timing the quad and whoring it to death can get annoying. But not very annoying. If I notice someone else doing that, I'll make a point of hovering near it and trying to grab it up before they can, and THAT'S the most annoying part about it, the fact that I've been convinced to change my routine and focus on item control rather than carefree aggressive attacking like usual.

But more than anything else, I get annoyed by the little suck-ass players like "dirty cop" who are the literal classic definition of a camper. Even when it's only you and him alone, he'll crouch in a corner with a rocket launcher or railgun trained on a door or ladder and REFUSES to move about. It's not that he's successful at it, it's just that it's sooooo fucking lame and pointless. I don't see how anyone could entertain themselves doing that year after year like he does. It's like... Why the fuck do you even play!?! You are wasting space on the server. Go jerk off or do drugs or join a cult or some shit, the rest of us wanna actually PLAY this shit.

 ::) i don't like the idea of completely eliminating the BFG or the Quad. Regardless how anyone feels about it. However the settings on my CTF server have it limited to random 1 quad per map spawns and to 1 quad in 2 quad maps.  As for the BFG , the setting i worked out was to weaken the BFG so that's it's splash radius was drastically reduced. it functions more like a modified rocket launcher, however with the aid of runes it becomes more or less useful.

well i felt it necessary for CTF, for those who wanted the option to use it. The BFG wasn't included in the mod at all, however some maps have allowed for it's usage. however, there was a feature that would kill the player that fired it in threewave mod.  i always found it strange, since CTF isn't really based on a single players accuracy, (since 1 on 1 is rather taboo in a team game)

 The BFG  is mainly used in DM or single player. Unless you have a healthy stack in DM, you won't survive a BFG blast unless you're a top player. most players can just abuse it and that would make DM winners even more random among base players. not that the stats mean anything, but ppl do use the BFG to pad their stats, solely because it exists.
