(requesting sticky here):

Many people here play more than just Quake II, but I'd venture to guess that as many don't know that Tastyspleen.net has non-Quake II servers! Yes, there's a couple of q3 servers, a qw server, warsow... Tastyspleen is bigger than you might think! The TastyCast front page currently has a list of the servers, but also consider this thread a petition for the server list on tastyspleen.net to be updated to include these servers. I know it's probably been on quadz' todo for a while, but in the interest of expanding awareness of all Tastyspleen has to offer, this is something I think a lot of us want to see happen.

In the meantime, the TastyCast page (scroll down to the bottom) will help you out with your extra-q2 activities.

Word. Tastyspleen.net is also home to the most active Quake2World test server.

Now if only Quake2World worked for me at least once... But what's the point of adding more non-Q2 servers if hardly anyone will play at them. I mean, I wouldn't mind having some Q3, QuakeWorld, or some standalone free shooter server, but they would probably only be used for private matches. And what about anticheat?

How has it not worked for you? Have you tried asking for help in our IRC channel or on our forum?

This thread isn't the place to discuss Q2W support, but please seek out one of those other options and we'll get it working on your box. As for utilization of the Q2W server, it typically has players on it at least once per day. The game is not yet released, you can expect the server's popularity to dramatically increase once the game has a general release.

If tastyspleen were so inclined, I really think that it's feasible to get the server files from id to host a Quake Live server. Just a thought.

As is the case with so many of your posts, I'm left to ask: What the hell would be the point of that?

Also, unless I've completely misunderstood the centralized nature of QL, there are likely to be significant infrastructure and security limitations which would prevent anyone besides id Software from hosting servers.

the advantage of non-id hosting a server is that then you can decide the maps, # of players, etc. But the way it is right now, it's all like ETQW ranked servers, except nobody but id is allowed to host.

Right. It seems to me that id is interested in the community and the eventual goal of a non-beta quake live may be to have server files available for people to use.

However that's not what I was worried about. I assume that id is renting server slots to host their game. Quadz has some. Maybe some money could be involved in Tastyspleen's favor? One could always hope, right?

I would like to see a Quake 3 server with Punkbuster turned OFF so I can see all the damn models I have collected,and servers running pure never allow them...

And....maybe a Kingpin server? Great game,quake2 engine based and available from www.gog.com for dirt cheap!@ Bagman rules over capture the flag!
