How can I find my current mouse DPI? I think my Logitech M325 is rated at 1000 dpi but is there a way the OS can tell me?
What sensitivity setting constant is represented here?
Game sensitivity is 1.0 to 10.0 but OS "cursor speed" seems to be scaled from 1 to 20 as integer.

If you're getting "...tried to flood the server (2)" messages, it's from a bug in q2admin-tsmod2 that incorrectly computes the number of userinfo changes per minute. Some sniper zoom binds that used mousewheel to step thru zoom views could cause this. I fixed the bug in my fork of q2admin in v1.17.46 and later but it was never incorporated into the Tastyspleen server system. I'm almost afraid to change over because it means taking down every server to change the q2admin DLL and restarting them all.

I've also seen it kick during intermissions, especially q2pro clients. You might make sure cl_maxfps is 100 or thereabouts. The rate cvar should not be a factor but I keep mine at 25000 without trouble.

Ha! I remember Strong Island. It was called island1.bsp on our server.
Many users liked it but spawners often were confused or spawn-fragged in the lobby before they could take the teleports.
It wasn't in our typical rotations but it was callable by map vote.

DOWNLOAD MAPS HERE !! / Re: grievearena02 - Epic Arena

Yeah, definitely has that peculiar Q3 architecture. Just looking at the screenshots, I already see some jumps I wanna try.  8) Look forward to playing it sometime.

Can we get this added to DM?

I downloaded it. I'll try to add it this week. Not sure how to add it to rotation or mymap yet.

Did quadz leave a clear guide somewhere as to which maps go to what servers and when? being a new map and not being a q2dm$ map i'd say it's fit for rotation on other ts servers before trying it on ts dm mymap - would it be usual or sensible for a new custom map to be added to ts dm mymap without it first being playtested on the ts servers that were specifically made for new custom maps?

edit: Here's a solid recent response by quadz on this issue. > Re: Why not add a second DM?

I probably over-explained where I was intending to put the map. I do know that dm needs special attention when a map is a candidate for placement there and dm8 is strictly stock rotation. Wherever it does end up, it will be either available or not available depending on the configuration of the server. How's that for hand-waving?

No, he didn't leave any policy notes inside the system that I am aware of. He didn't have to. He was running solo and didn't need to memorialize the processes. The game server startups are all pretty straightforward. The servers also all have common content so once a map is placed into the baseq2 folder and onto the redirect server it's available to any mod that might want to use it. Mod-specific maps get put into the mod folders to which they belong. There's a master content tree and all the servers in ancillary accounts get symlinks to each file of common content in their accounts to conserve disk space. All the tastyspleen.net servers share the same real file sets so any addition is automatically available and can be voted or called up depending on the mod.

Otherwise, if someone puts a map up in the boards, download it and run it in your own machine until we get a round tuit.

OK, I have restarted pretty much all the Quake2 game servers that were running when the system was shut down. I picked up one or three just now. If I missed any, please PM me from this site so I get an notified asap.

The WallFly system and the stats logging/reporting system is proving difficult to grok. It was in an account we did not have access to prior to today. It may take a little time to get WallFly back to buzzzing around.

The server has been successfully re-racked and the web service is up. Restart of game servers is manual operation in progress.
Note: WallFly will be up in about 1 hour.

*sensible concern*

*unsurprising disappointing hypocrisy and chronically unpunished agitation*

*sensible concern but in a refreshingly brief form*

Take it easy and settle down, i have a private interest in one of the servers, don't make a fuss about it.

Which server? I'll make sure it gets restarted. PM me if necessary. There are currently 55 Q2 Tastyspleen.net servers plus the ones hosted here on other user accounts.

Who is Saxon? Someone who was banned previously and came back with a new name? Call me crazy, but I tend to immediately distrust someone with a month old account who suggests granting full pardons to the trolls and shitheads who have played their part long and hard enough to earn a ban.

I agree.

This server has been up for 827 days. I'm hoping quadz had most services set to auto start, but who knows. I guess we'll see tomorrow...

Lol, you may have a slight problem there, maybe you should have an amnesty clearing of your tastyspleentv discord blocklist if reading updates on this are actually a thing.

Why? Anyone blocked from the boards or channels doesn't need to know. This is a maintenance action and doesn't concern them.

It's there. I invoked it on the server to test. We have control.

Sounds like a plan. It should be simple enough to set up rcon.

@qwazy does this site also run  off of that same machine or is it run by a different entity? may be a silly question but i thought id ask you anyways being that you are fairly tech savvy

It's all run off the same machine.

I suppose the prices were higher back when it was first initiated and it was a better spec machine back in the day. I know he was overpaying for the old one and this one was a great improvement in performance.

It would have been selected 4 or 5 years ago I believe. Spec sheet on the E5-2630 v4 says 10 cores, 20 threads so lets end the speculation.

Etc. up to 11. It enumerates CPU 0 thru 11 so I don't know WTF that means if it's a 10 core.

By today's standards it's a medium capability processor. Personally, I used to be an Intel guy but now I have experienced a 16 core Ryzen 9 and would not go back to Intel.

Given its uptime at 786 days, I'd have to say it was a good choice of vendor because they are not foisting updates on it and it was self-managed by quadz. It's not shared with anyone and it's a real box not a virtual one.

As for downsizing or paring down the server count, that will be up to the next owner.
To quote quadz, "I can run 100 empty servers as easily as 10." or words to that effect.
