weapons / Re: Appreciation for Ice Wolf and Null
« on: April 25, 2020, 11:48:08 AM »
YES!

Thank you IceFox and Null for the many maps and fun with this mod that You provide for us. This incredible mod has no similar in the entire history of the games and needs to be more publicized to bring more players, because you deserve it! I try to bring other players but the ones I know only like fortine, freefire, CS, BF, etc .. :(

Here, I found Donde exploring some of maps make/modified by IceFox/Kitsune:

weapons / Suggestions for WOD-X
« on: March 10, 2019, 11:52:48 AM »
Hi r1.

I have some suggestions for WOD-X.
I have no idea if they are easy or difficult to implement, or even correct, but they are:

- All WODX weapons have their respective binds, for example bind key freezeweeper that directly selects the freezeweeper, but if I want to use chaingun I have to scroll for all until I get the chaingun, because the bind key chaingun does not select it, it goes selecting all in rotation. So, if we had a bind key chaingun_default, for example, would make it easier to select this weapon without having to use the bind key chaingun itself. Same for shotgun, supershotgun, machinegun, hyperblaster and railgun.

- The ammos seem to be few, they end up very fast. Perhaps having infinity ammo for all weapons, except rockets and grenades of course, would improve this feeling of frustration by fire little. In addition, I imagine it would be lighter for the server not to load the many ammo packs.

- Just as in tourney mod using the green names of the players who killed us or we killed it would make it easier to know who killed us or we killed. In many times of frantic action we cannot know due to the excess information in the lines of the console, and in this case the names highlighted in green would be great.

- And also, like in other games like Q3, Warsow, etc., the implementation of a kill sound would help to know when we killed someone. Useful to know if that IED / Shambler / Airstrike / etc that we left somewhere killed someone. LOL

- Addition of the number of cells on the screen, below the credits / score. Useful to know if we still have enough to trigger sonic, IEDs, etc.

- The chasecam could be in the eyes of the player instead of 3rd person, so we will have the real notion of how he plays.

- The id command could be turned on by default for all players without the need to activate it at the beginning of each match (it could have the option to turn off, and this becomes fixed if the player does not want to use it). Also, you could use the code implemented in wod 7.51 that works very well, the name appears instantly on the screen, since this of the wodx takes a long time to appear or even does not appear!

- A nuclear tech that appears 1 or 2 times randomly during the game that when triggered causes a nuclear explosion that leaves the screen all white with earthquake and that kills all in the server or at least all that are in good range of reach.

- A dynamic fraglimit in which with a certain number of players in the server it rises from 30 to 50, or the opposite if it has less players, because sometimes some player does 30 frags in only 3 minutes.

- A command to enter the console that lists ALL the commands and binds of WODX and keep updated.

- Option of gamex86.dll updated for windows besides linux in a specific topic here in this forum. (The last version I have is the 2.3 of 2016 that I found "lost" at http://whaleseye.tastyspleen.net/quake2/weapons/maps/ ...  2.6 is for linux).

Well, for now, that's all I remember.
Thank you! ;)

Obs: If anyone else has any other suggestions for WOD-X, they are welcome to collaborate.

weapons / Some missing files
« on: February 24, 2019, 10:57:28 AM »
Hi. When I am connecting to the server there are messages of missing files to download, such as:

models/bits/wall/skin.pcx
models/bits4/bodyparts/bonegib.pcx
models/bits4/bodyparts/brain.pcx

models/mapobjects/plants/flower/tree3.tga

players/male/flag1.md2
players/male/flag2.md2

sound/misc/airstrike.wav
sound/misc/drill1.wav
sound/misc/drone.wav
sound/misc/glass22.wav
sound/misc/ouch9.wav
sound/tunes/2pir2.wav
sound/weapons/power2.wav
sound/weapons/sawup.wav
sound/weapons/trapcock.wav

textures/e2u3/plate1_1.wal
textures/plants/Tree2B_004.wal

Example msg: HTTP(models/mapobjects/plants/flower/tree3.tga): 404 file not found.

Apparently the lack of most of these files does not interfere with anything, but as for the missing tree3.tga file on the map marics_gunsetc_kb leaves the plants looking like this:

...

By the way: I cant access this link here: http://whaleseye.tastyspleen.net/quake2/weapons/
Forbidden!

Thanks.

Quake / Re: Quake 2 - Legacy of Doom 2 (Mission Pack)
« on: December 22, 2017, 09:07:09 AM »
Ok, I respect your opinion!
I downloaded it, I'm playing it and it has no virus ... the .dll and .exe files are original from KMQuake2.

*** Instructions ***

Requires Windows and Quake 2. If you do not have Q2 read below NOTE 2:

Be careful when installing in the original Quake 2 folder because it replaces a lot of original textures by changing the ones you have, space required 7.5Gb+!

For this you have two options: Option 1 install in the original Quake 2 folder avoiding replacing the original textures / Option 2 install in a different folder:

- Option 1 (recommended) - Installation in the Quake 2 folder:

Separately decompress the "baseq2\textures" folders contained in .rar files into "Quake 2\d2legacy", thus avoiding to replace their original textures in your "Quake 2\baseq2". So it works perfectly and you have only one installation. For this:

1) Open Windows Explorer in your "Quake 2" folder, open the file part1 .rar select only the "d2legacy" folder, drag and drop into the "Quake 2" folder in your Windows Explorer.

2) Go back to the .rar, 2 clicks on "baseq2" and select only the "textures" folder, drag and drop into the "d2legacy" folder in Windows Explorer, avoiding to replace the original textures, leaving "Quake 2\d2legacy\textures\".

3) Repeat steps 1) and 2) for the other .rar part2 / v2 / tnt (optional) in this order.

4) After that, in Windows Explorer, enter the folder "Quake 2\d2legacy\km_engine_setup\v0.20\" and open "kmquake2_020_update7.zip" and unzip the contents in "Quake 2", replacing all the necessary files. Or do this from the file if you downloaded kmquake2 from the official website above.

5) Make a shortcut: "C:\Quake 2\kmquake2.exe" + set game d2legacy

- Option 2 - Install in another folder other than Quake 2:

1) In Windows Explorer create another folder named "Quake 2 LOD2" and unzip the .rar part1 / part2 / v2 / tnt (optional) in this order.

2) After that, in Windows Explorer, enter the folder "Quake 2 LOD2\d2legacy\km_engine_setup\v0.20\" and open "kmquake2_020_update7.zip" and unzip the contents in "Quake 2 LOD2", replacing all the necessary files. Or do this from the file if you downloaded kmquake2 from the official website above.

3) With Windows Explorer look for "pak0.pak" inside the original "Quake 2\baseq2\" folder, copy and paste it into the new "Quake 2 LOD2\baseq2\" folder.

4) Make a short cut: "C:\Quake 2 LOD2\kmquake2.exe" + set game d2legacy

*** Notes ***

NOTE 1: In the shortcut C:\ you can switch to your game partition: D:\, E:\, etc ...

NOTE 2: If you do not have the original Quake 2 just look for the file "pak0.pak" from the baseq2 folder on the internet which also works, since you only need it because this mission pack uses the port KMQuake2. Install by Option 2.

NOTE 3: In the game, if you lose your settings every time you play: Open the files "doomed_1.cfg" and "doomed_2.cfg" with notepad and edit the entries that you are losing and save. Or add // to the beginning of each line you want to change and configure again the settings. This prevents the default cfg from being loaded at all times.

NOTE 4: And again: Save your game only in small intermission maps, otherwise, the game will crash!
