I hit a strange pixel rail on the Danish server today. Looks like I barely hit thin air but I still ended up hitting my opponent. When I hit in "real time", I prefired at towards the roof of the jump pad chute and it looked nothing like the demo. Just saw that I got the frag.
^I stumbled upon this when browsing youtube. Apparently this website has some very old demos of Q2, which I find to be very cool but also surprising. Definitely worth a look IMO.
A few people here already know of my tdm bind issue. For some reason in-game, the game changes my loc_here bind so that I say my position in mm1 instead of mm2. This problem is very irritating because sometimes the bind works and sometimes it doesn't. There's no way I know whether the change has occurred unless I use the bind. It's as if the game changes my bloody bind at its own whim. One thing I did notice is that whenever this switch happens, my loc_here bind changes to "location", which doesn't make any sense to me at all. What the hell does that command do....I certainly have never seen or used that command ever in a bind.
One thing I thought it could be was the fact that I don't use unbindall when I boot up my tdm config, and there's a few binds that are duplicates from my config.cfg, but logic tells me that the game would just overwrite those similar binds, so I have no idea why only my loc_here bind freaks out and not my loc_there bind, when it's also in my config.cfg.
And yeah...I tried deleting my config.cfg to get the original config.cfg back, but apparently I saved over that a long time ago by mistake (via quitting the menu). I have no clue where the game stores this config, to fix this issue. If I have a choice, I'd rather not uninstall to fix this problem.
Last week I saw someone with the alias ryd3L play on tourney4, by chance. For those who don't know, ryd3L is the alias of some polish cheater was kicked and banned from some polish tdm league called PLQ2 for wallhacking, and cheating in general. I'm sure a few players here have heard of another polish player that goes by the name "Medic" or "fResh". Earlier today he asked me to play some QL but he linked me to an account named "ryd3L". Instantly I became suspicious and started to ask him if he was that same player, because the idea of using the alias of KNOWN cheater is just simply retarded. When I questioned this, he tried to play it off by claiming that he has a brother that also plays Q2, who also lives with him and is the person who cheated and was banned. He claimed that he was only using ryd3L's account because he wanted to get into servers that have higher skill. He claims that his brother is better than him in QL. This excuse doesn't sound good to me as I don't remember QL keeping that feature that barred players from joining difficult servers, in order to prevent newbies from getting destroyed and quitting the game. If that was the case, then I wouldn't have played against some players in the game who either NA professional Quake players or are skilled enough to challenge such players. Also, the reason why this excuse sounds weak to me is that he also claimed that he lives with his brother in Poland. If his brother is in Poland, then why did the alias "ryd3L" play on July 2th around 7PM central time? He has no reason to use that alias in Q2.
This "I share the same ip as my brother who cheated in Q2 and got banned" is overplayed. Such claims like that require some prove or just sound like pathetic excuses. Medic even admit in my conversation that he doesn't care that his so called brother screwed him over by cheating, so he can't play the game anymore in Europe. Apparently he doesn't Q2 anymore.
I want to make it clear that the entire time that I have played with ryd3l when he was aliased as fResh or Medic, I haven't noticed him playing suspiciously and I noticed that he uses AC, so please note that is not me accusing him of cheating right now at this moment. Even though I'd rather get a ip check to confirm that Medic = ryd3L, I'm sure people would like to know whether or not they're playing with someone who used to cheat and isn't man enough to try to repair his reputation, and would rather try to hide his identity while failing at it.
