It doesn't matter what the topic is/was, it's about the hypocrisy. Trump going golfing right now doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but he, and his current press secretary, made a big deal about Obama doing it when he was in office, and under circumstances that weren't even remotely as historic as those we've been experiencing lately.

Some hypocritical messaging from Trump and the new WH Press Secretary. Check out the two embedded Twitter videos. They're both pretty short:

Yup^

It baffles me how you apparently don't see that Trump is literally doing what you're implying The Lancet is doing.

Is it really that baffling to read that and think "worst case scenario trump was just wrong about the Lancet"?

It was an official letter drafted by Trump and his team (almost certainly having almost zero input, from a substantive standpoint, from Trump himself). You don't just throw out names willy-nilly in such an official document. That calls into question (or at least it damn well should) all of the research (to the extent there was any) and claims of the remainder of the document. This is acceptable for grievances aired out at a PTA meeting, but not by the executive office of the POTUS.

Now, implying the entirety of the statement is factually incorrect is some damned dishonest framing.

Isn't a core part of Trump's claim that these things happened in December of 2019 "or even earlier" ? Isn't that why they're so important (because of the supposed delay which reduced the opportunity to prepare)? Everything you're listing is from mid January. Also, who gets to decide what reports meet the threshold of "credible", from a medical science standpoint, between Trump's admin and the WHO? Which scientific body is it, or who are the experts on Trump's admin, that reached these conclusions? Other than The Lancet, who is Trump referencing? You're putting your stamp of approval on Trump's overall claims because of Twitter users/accounts you recall coming across?

Here is the Florida COVID-19 website - https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/96dd742462124fa0b38ddedb9b25e429

I think what your are saying is - this website will no longer show certain data or the data will be changed to make things look better?

That's what the data scientist that created that site is claiming - I'm not saying anything.

it says including reports by the Lancet

Trump cites "credible reports". He decides to list one specific name, and intentionally chooses a very reputable name in The Lancet. It turns out the one name he chooses, which presumably would be the most well-supported as far as his claim goes, is not remotely true.

There's something odd about that, and it smells like an agenda-driven "call out".

It baffles me how you apparently don't see that Trump is literally doing what you're implying The Lancet is doing.

Do things that appear retaliatory in nature offend you?

It depends.

Lots of talk about Biden and the Ukraine thing... Anybody gonna talk about all the firings the Trump admin has engaged in which appear retaliatory in nature? What about the latest with Pompeo getting the IG that was going to investigate him fired?

I found this article to be informative regarding the Hunter Biden Ukraine situation:

The prosecutor was investigating the company Hunter Biden was on the board of.  If having Hunter Biden on your board gets the American Vice President to threaten to hold back a Billion dollars unless the Ukraine fires the prosecutor who is investigating your company, 50K a month was money well spent.  :raincloud:

I presume the allegation is that the reason Biden insisted on the prosecutor being fired was that the prosecutor was doing an investigation into the company Hunter was on the board of and Biden wanted to ensure that that investigation didn't uncover some sort of wrongdoing (that Biden was aware of)? What if Biden wanting the prosecutor to be fired and the prosecutor being in the middle of an investigation of the company Hunter Biden was working for are unrelated?

Read up on Hunter Biden, he has made millions off the Biden name and the influence his father can provide.

And Trump's kids?

And unrelated, I assume you've seen this.

https://youtu.be/QE7PwqmzSu0

I hadn't. I read that the prosecutor he wanted fired was not doing his job in rooting out corruption, and that was what he was hired to do, or something along those lines. What I don't understand is if this was supposed to be some big "gotcha" moment, what was the occasion that he was freely sharing this information with all those other people seemingly not surprised by his admission? My impression is that this is designed to sound like something that is bad by leaving out context.
