i wouldnt care about porting over the single player, just the multiplayer maps and those would work fine with crouch im pissed they dont allow crouch in the mp that would be one of the reasons to port it over to q2pro/yamagi so you can crouch in those multiplayer maps.

Oh... that's easy:

goto mutant
mymap q264_1

They're all there.

They should be in the list. Wallfly can load them.

Update: n64 map (bsp's) and textures load just fine when moved over to a normal quake2 client.

First 2 major hurdles are the fact that ducking ruins the game and all print_world style text goes through a translation file and support for looking up the messages would need to be added.

After that, there are a handful of custom monsters that need logic. I'm sure it converts pretty easily, but that means we need a new gamex86.dll, which was more work than I could commit at the moment. Hopefully next week I can throw time at this. If so, I'll start a new thread.

EDIT: Also, don't save things INTO your q2 remastered pak0.pak in pak explorer. Looks like it causes some issues.

The best thing to do is port over quake 2 n64 to the vanilla game to run on source ports like yamagi or q2pro and host server running the exclusive 10 multiplayer maps from n64 game.

make this happen someone please  :yessign:

Shouldn't be hard, I'll look into it.

But it will be copyrighted content, so the best option will likely be instructions on how to copy some pak files or something. People who already own a steam/GOG version can use it but it won't be redistributable like the recompiles of quake levels or anything.

Quake / Q2 Remastered Bullet Time mode
« on: August 20, 2023, 08:36:14 PM »
Pressing f1 in single player activates bullet time for some reason. It's totally playable but you have a big screen in your way.

If only someone made a pak1.pak with a transparent help.pcx so that you can just play that way the whole time?

Oh wait I did!

Just extract to wherever your baseq2 folder is.

Mine is at
Code: [Select]
C:\GOG Games\Quake II Enhanced\baseq2\pak1.pak

Sorry for all the stupid crap I put you through, man. Rest in peace. Hopefully you have your own private cloud #railgun to rest easy on.

Any chance the qexpo 2008 page can redirect to qexpo 2016? It's the top result in google

Hmm, qexpo 2016 shows up right below it (for me) in Google. And they both have dates in their page titles (2008 vs. 2016) so it doesn't feel like it's going to be confusing to anyone who... is familiar with calendars?

You just like that your picture is the first thing people see on the 2008 site.  :tease:

I just heard about this today, and I'm super excited to participate in another. We should hold a tastyspleen event (if not already suggested)

What about another tastyspleen500?

Sure the graphics are actually worse than q2. Sure we can just play this now on a q2 server. But this may get more people into the hobby!  :afro:

btw, I didn't bother to check if this was already posted.

Nope.

The server binary has extra anti cheat built into it. I disabled all of the anticheat even the other kickable server variables. (Like team damage) and there was still another piece of anticheat upset about some open gl setting the mac clients were using. Scoured that page, the r1q2 page, another copy in the ts downloads section and another resource. Nothing in the forums except for a similar player banned from a public server who gave up because people were convinced he had a speed hack.

I was so sure I worked out the kinks ahead of time because the client could sit idle. It only kicked after moving around a bit.

Turns out the Gloom .dll has anticheat built into it. So the mac clients kept overflowing or setting some GL property that it hated. So we couldn't get any of those clients to play. (Which was half the office) I tried turning off every anticheat check in r1q2, and the gloom server commands. Then I tried running it in vanilla q2. Same issue.

:(

So we ended up just playing deathmatch and got up to q2dm4 before calling it quits. Oh well.

Crap. I totally overlooked them  :-[

Thanks!

In the meantime. A big hearty thanks to Jay Dolan for keeping up with a modern q2 Mac client.  :afro:

Thanks for the offer. That'd be awesome to set up a community event for. But at the moment I just need it for a lan party at work.

Are there linux binaries for gloom 1.3?

I didn't seem to find any, but perhaps I just missed them.
