Florida Ousts Top COVID-19 Data Scientist

A data scientist who created a dashboard to track Florida's COVID-19 cases says she's been fired from the state's health department for refusing to "manually change data to drum up support for the plan to reopen."

Here is the Florida COVID-19 website - https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/96dd742462124fa0b38ddedb9b25e429

I think what your are saying is - this website will no longer show certain data or the data will be changed to make things look better?

That's what the data scientist that created that site is claiming - I'm not saying anything.

Here is a story about the Gov. response - https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/05/20/coronavirus-florida-gov-ron-desantis-disputes-data-manipulation/5226744002/

Somebody is not telling the truth  :raincloud:  I am not going to take a side, because I do not have the knowledge to do so.

It would not worry me as much if this happened rarely, but it happens often.
Well yes, but we should try to falsify it:

Take the same "roundtable" event with Biden and see if we can stitch together a sequence of clips (over a 30 second runtime) that makes him appear competent.

In other words, I'm not saying it doesn't matter, but if we can stitch together a 30-second patchwork of clips that:
 - make Biden look senile
 - make Biden look competent

Then we should be careful.

Recall Biden's debate with Bernie some 6 weeks ago where the talk beforehand was Biden needed to sit down else he'd wander offstage in confusion - and the talk afterward was… wow, where was the confused, feeble Biden we expected to see?

I'm not saying he appears confused the majority of the time.  No matter what the specific policy discussion, I want my leader to be sharp and on point.  Trump screws up also, but I think the difference is Trump does not know something and he wings it (which is not good either).  Biden really looks confused to me.  I know it is only clips here or there that Biden appears confused and loses track of what he is trying to say, but it still concerns me.

It will be interesting to see Trump and Biden in a 2 hour debate, to see if Biden shines or has issues.

No matter what political views you have, this guy's mental state should scare you.   If he wins, what will his mind be like in another year or two.

If you plan on voting for the Biden ticket, you better be happy with the VP because I give it a 50/50 chance that Biden won't be mentally fit for 4 years.

If the prosecutor was fired for not being aggressive enough, I wonder what happened after that.  Did they get a new person?  Did the new person aggressively expose corruption?  I will have to see if that can be found.

The prosecutor was investigating the company Hunter Biden was on the board of.  If having Hunter Biden on your board gets the American Vice President to threaten to hold back a Billion dollars unless the Ukraine fires the prosecutor who is investigating your company, 50K a month was money well spent.  :raincloud:

I presume the allegation is that the reason Biden insisted on the prosecutor being fired was that the prosecutor was doing an investigation into the company Hunter was on the board of and Biden wanted to ensure that that investigation didn't uncover some sort of wrongdoing (that Biden was aware of)? What if Biden wanting the prosecutor to be fired and the prosecutor being in the middle of an investigation of the company Hunter Biden was working for are unrelated?

Read up on Hunter Biden, he has made millions off the Biden name and the influence his father can provide.

And Trump's kids?

You have to admit the Vice President using 1 Billion in US Funds to influence an investigation being done by another country into their own corruption issues is fishy, even if his son was not part of it.   Biden's son being involved takes it to the next level.  Vice President Biden definitely did not like where the investigation was going.  Was it in the interest of the US Government or was it in his interest to have this investigation disrupted or halted?

I knew you would go there with the Trump kids.   I do not know of any stories about them benefiting since he has been in office.  I think in some ways, they have been worse off, because of all the negative feelings about the Trump Family by some people.  All the negative and sometimes nasty articles & social media attacks can't be good for someone.  To get back on point - Hunter Biden made a lot of deals and made a lot of money WHILE Joe Biden was VP.   If this is happening with the Trump kids, I have not seen it and I believe the press would have been all over it if it was some President Trump influenced deal.

And unrelated, I assume you've seen this.

https://youtu.be/QE7PwqmzSu0

I hadn't. I read that the prosecutor he wanted fired was not doing his job in rooting out corruption, and that was what he was hired to do, or something along those lines. What I don't understand is if this was supposed to be some big "gotcha" moment, what was the occasion that he was freely sharing this information with all those other people seemingly not surprised by his admission? My impression is that this is designed to sound like something that is bad by leaving out context.

The first video (I believe - it's been a while) addresses this issue as well.

I'm not sure if you guys have already discussed this, but how do you guys feel about Trump and his taxes?

What value do you see in prospective presidential candidates releasing their tax returns?

What do you make of Trump being the first candidate in the last 40 or more years refusing to release his taxes?

Do you think his refusal is at all motivated by something he feels would make him less electable if released?

Do you feel comfortable with allowing an individual that seeks to hold the greatest power over us as citizens to have 'secrets', so-to-speak, or potential conflicts of interest that may be revealed in tax return documents?

Feel free to propose questions to me about my opinion (I think all presidential candidates should be required, by law, to release a number of years of tax returns - nobody intending to lead the country I live in should get a pass on whether or not they're trustworthy in that regard).

Question 1 - I am in agreement with quads - a neutral group should look at maybe 2 years taxes (prior to running for office) to make sure there is nothing that stands out as a big red flag.

Question 2 & 3  - I do think Trump is worried about his tax returns being public.  I think it is mainly about the media finding something to go ape shit about (even if it is really nothing)  I am not saying that everything would be good in his taxes.  I am saying the media will go ape shit crazy in either situation.

Question 4 - see answer to question 1

Since you brought up the issue with a president or presidential candidate having possible conflicts of interest in their finances.  What are your thoughts on the Biden and Biden Family situations with Ukraine and China?
