Trouble Shooting / r1q2 crash...
« on: April 27, 2011, 08:08:42 PM »
Hi,

Ive been trying to get back and play a couple of games in my win7 machine, and it crashes all the time. Ive tried changing the compatibility mode, changing AVG permission, MS Forefront, reinstalling, replacing ref_soft.dll, etc. and nothing works.

Heres the error. can someone plz help?

thanks

R1Q2 encountered an unhandled exception and has terminated. If you are able to
reproduce this crash, please submit the crash report to r1ch.net when prompted or
post this file and the crash dump .dmp file (if available) on the R1Q2 forums at
http://www.r1ch.net/forum/index.php?board=8.0

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE LATEST VERSIONS OF R1Q2/R1GL/ETC!

This crash appears to have occured in the 'c:\quake2\ref_soft.dll' module.
It is very likely that the software renderer (ref_soft) is at fault. Software
rendering in Q2 has always been unreliable. If possible, please use OpenGL to avoid
crashes. Consider using the modified ref_soft.dll available on the r1ch.net forums to
fix some small bugs if you are not using it already.

If we can vote instagib on the T4 server it would be great.

In comparaison from t4 rail delay to irtdm or railztdm, heres a small graph of how it feels for me ( | bar = delay of rail after clicking the trigger) ;)

IRTDM + Railztdm
0         0.25          0.5          0.75          1.00 (second)
...........................|....................................

Tourney4
0         0.25          0.5          0.75          1.00 (second)
......|.........................................................

That makes a huge difference for me! Strange how i fell i have a 120 ping on these servers... Anyways thanks for the reply!

Hi,

Ive been back a bit for about a week, and noticed some choppyness and lag on the irtdm and railztdm server. I dunno if its because i never noticed before, but on my part it seems very laggy and not too good for a rail server.

I then go on tourney4 and notice how the people's pings are much better, and how this t4 server is really smooth. Most of the people I see on t4 have lower pings than on tourney, so i guess it would be the same for a major part of the community?

That being said, is there a reason there is such a difference between irtdm+railztdm and tourney4? And could we change it so that it is optimize for a rail server? (if its only me that has this issue, ignore this hehe)

thanks

I always find these discussions sad...

I think there are 2 kinds of people, the ones that have a pre-defined idea, nothing can prove them wrong, even if they have the truth in their face that prove their argument is erronous, and the ones that will accept a fact that beat their argument to progress to a collective agreement of best plausible answers.

I just dont understand this crap of wasting time debating on subjects that are, without a doubt, old and counter-progressive for human kind. Ive wasted time and energy arguing on such things with creationists/atheists, and it was the same old conclusion: THEY WONT ACCEPT THE FACTS, THEREFORE, FOR MY PERSONAL PROGRESSION, IT IS A STICK IN MY WHEELS. I use to argue a lot like you with %&&*#& ideologists to enforce mt own theory, but now im starting to approach these condescendingly.....

The creationist will say "hey you got the answer right here in the bible, no need to ask all the silly questions!!!! God loves you!" and the atheists will say "Without a doubt, there is no way a god exists or any divine energy of power, and this is the only truth". Both these are simply WRONG. As quadz was mentionning, it is jumping to the conclusion, then doing the research with a pre-defined conclusion.... WTF

Some people choose to set camp along the road of knowledge while other choose to go on in search of answers until they die. The best way to learn is to listen to new ideas, not old fashioned theories that makes our lazy asses confortable and feel secure in a narrow mind ... thats my opinion

i never said that all american beers are shit, i was talking  about the bud and coors beers. Ive looked at what Anheuser-Busch brew, and they have very decent beers. Looking forward to taste more of these :righteous:

I think is the problem with most common beers, like here in Canada its the same, Labatt Blue, molson Canadian, Molson export, Labatt 50,etc. are not great beers. Common beers are just common, nothing stands out for me. Im not a connaisseur, i just like to try different tastes here and there.

In Quebec, before 2000, we had beers in fridges at the corner store (we call these place Depanneurs). All these beers were common beers, and there was cheaper beer like milwaukee's best, Colt 45, Wild Cat, Toreador, etc. If you wanted a decent beer, you had to go to SAQ (liquor store) to buy some. But since 2000, there are many different beers in "depanneurs" that are available to everyone. Before, we use to think Labatt Blue, Budweiser and Coors light were good compared with other beers in the depanneur, but since that time, hundreds of different beers are available, and now these has-been beers are just not my taste anymore.

No wonder they sell a 24 of bud light and coors light 21$ in super markets, it has become the cheap beers of our times! Some people like drinking beer that taste like water, and this is fine! :bananaw00t:
