Demon.. not sure if you had all of my documentation. I took the liberty of doing that for you, and posting 2 new ones.
My last duel with kickr0(dm1) and my last duel with slugs(rage) attached.
Me doing well in organized 4v4, 130 ping + 1 week ago

Not saying I'm amazing or anything, but I feel like I got a little misrepresented. I mean... I don't bother posting a LOT of stuff. Same with adrenal1ne and playboy. Adren hasn't posted any of the 100 wins he's has on me the past year or two, I haven't posted any of the 15+ I have on him. Even fader/vae get misrepresented... if one of those kids beats naymlis, why would they post the demo when naym runs train on them most of the time.... :|

I appreciate the mature, humble response.  Letting your gameplay speak for itself is the best way for a player to earn the respect they deserve.
I have seen all of the demos you linked(including the tlk game); and I'll check out the 2 new ones(I'm sure they are good).

I wasn't meaning to post demonames of players not in the list(with the exception of indisputable achievements like beating someone like Damiah).   The demonames were to help us visualize a 'ladder' of how these 8 players measured against each other.
Let me be clear, that this is not about who's slightly better than who, or "I once beat naymlis in 2005", or something lame like that.  You are all great players.  And maybe you are currently better than Kickro ever was, but you asked for the ranking and I was trying to put facts behind the words.
Perhaps we'll on the servers sometime and see where we fall out.

Playboy, it is a crime you don't post some of that r1q2-autorecord bullshit.
Which brings me to say that t is a shame that demos are not encouraged to be posted on these forums.  The pathetic 300-some demos that are posted here are a poor representation of 6-8 solid servers running 24/7 for years.

Demon, you know I play as "Near", right?
Because bonzai's a complete spammy idiot who does nothing but run?  :sorry: but, if he didn't run against Barton, I'd say it'd be an easy win for bart.
of course, you've never hidden that fact that you are Near.

I agree that Barton might be better than Bonzai now, but I have played both many times and only lost to Bonzai.

tier-wise, considering duel/tdm/EVERYTHING imo it's like
1. naymlis
1. ah!
1. adrenal1ne
5. haunted sober
5. kickr0, but went inactive 2-3 weeks ago
7. ryd3l...inactive+fag
7. slugs CURRENTLY
9. vae
9. flarez not giving a damn
13. senz
13. fader
13. kyuss
13. xanax
20. hunter
20. .Skillz
20. Chiefin
20. beez
20. johnson
20. barton
20. flesh
20. adam
99. bonzai

In order of documented skill:
Naymlis
Playboy
Adrenaline
Millan
Kickro
Slugs
Haunted
Vaevictus
Faderjok

Skillz, Rydel, Senz, Kyuss, Johnson, Flesh, and Adam don't have any/many games posted so they are not represented well.   I think Kyuss, Rydel, and Johnson are better than at least Faderjok, but don't have any 'proof' of that.
Adrenaline could be the best NA player currently(as most others are not currently practiced/active; but that hasn't been proven).  Adrenaline is shake-able in a game; once losing he is prone to be inconsistent.
Flarez rarely plays a serious game.  The last one was probably in 2007.  Whether winning or losing, he often gets distracted by... anything.
Tier-wise, Haunted, Vaevictus, and Faderjok are not in the same 'group' as the others on the list.
TDM skill measurement is difficult.  Rarely does one player win the game for a team single-handedly, but there are a lot of factors to consider when evaluating good TDM play/players.  Communication, power-up control, teamplay with map control, weapon respawn control, weapon/ammo dropping, zone playing, playing with your team in mind or playing with control of the opposing team in mind, knowing when to be aggressive or defensive, etc...
And Bonzai is a good player; in my experience better than Barton.  Why does every player with low self-esteem, or whose bark is stronger than their bite, have to poke at players beneath them?  It seems that the only thing that Quake2 players are really good at is immaturity.  (as I'm sure every response to this post will prove)

Trouble Shooting / Re: keygrip issues
« on: March 20, 2011, 04:39:45 PM »
at a command prompt, can you 'ping localhost'?
the msvcr-type dlls or protocol binder dlls that Keygrip uses might also be overwritten by another program  You could try uninstalling/reinstalling Kg204.
also, I assume you are using quake2, right; not some bastardization of quake2 like aprq2, q2a, or r1q2...

Trouble Shooting / Re: keygrip issues
« on: March 20, 2011, 01:20:03 PM »
Three possible causes I can think of off the top of my head:
1) Your software firewall is preventing localhost loopback.
2) Your NIC or software protocol adapter doesn't support localhost proxying.
3) Your computer doesn't know how to reach the host "localhost".  Try making a localhost entry in your hosts file.
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
There should be an uncommented entry that says:
127.0.0.1      localhost

I'm not sure what command you are talking about.  =/

>>> Try a new download of a client, with default configuration and run a packet capture.  Actually look at the times and see if you are getting the server responses in a timely manner.

Are you talking about r1q2(or similar) or a packet sniffer like wireshark?
I don't know how to do a packet capture or how to see the results even if I did.  =/

I watch demos of myself from 2003 and everything is so smooth.... a sureness in every step.   Now, I have a hard time getting through doorways...

Trouble Shooting / q2dm5_bad_ts_connection
« on: July 26, 2010, 01:44:08 AM »
Posting this because everyone else in the game said their connections were fine.
q2 plays fine on other servers. q2 plays fine on my own computer.
Other games dont have this problem either.
So, it has to be my connection to theplanet or the TS server settings.
same on vanilla as dm.
plays as if my ping is 150ms or so(I usually have around 40ms ping)... everything is delayed.  Railgun; press fire and one one-thousand and then it fires.
netgraph is clean... thin green line with no red at the bottom of the screen.

same player, same computer, same configs, same game; yet it plays as bad now with a 5mb down/2 mb up cablemodem as it did in 1998 with a 19.2 modem.

any suggestions (other than traceroute, because all that does is tell me what I already know)?
TIA.

I completely agree with Armor.
Perhaps there is proof of suspicious anything on the admin boards, but there's nothing been posted publicly that even hints at a bot/wallhack.
Plenty of players who can do well with his ping.

Vigilante is one of the best railers I have ever seen.
He is the best of the people I only know from Tastyspleen(and not from another source).
Please post a demo if you think someone is doing something questionable... or impressive.

13
nice guide to the simple q2rdm2 jumps.
One question: all of the jumps you show are very easy for me, except I can't make the double jumps.  I can DJ almost every time, but I never jump high enough to make it.

14
Thanks, that was just the answer I was looking for.
It does appear to be slightly clearer, but it seems a lot more choppy... like digital from analog.

not sure which I'll stick with, but it is nice to have a choice.

15
Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear.
I need to change/modify the renderer somehow... and this is for quake2 (not r1q2 or any other bastardization of the real game).

thanks for the input though.
