I would urge anyone wanting to go to, well, go. Even if you didn't get into the BYOC, there are the first-come-first-serve stations that can be signed up for. My understand is that once you're signed up, some accommodation will be made to match your usage time with your bracket match. Also, side tourneys at the hotel/my place. It's huge that we're getting this prize pool, and I want to see as many familiar faces in the running as possible.

I was not able to get a BYOC seat but are you sure that those who did not get a BYOC seat can still compete ? am thinking of joining the tournament but i dont want to waste so much money on plane ticket and accomodations just to not be able to play there ( a ticket to USA costs a shit-load of money from Tunisia, Visa is so freaking hard to get too....since i live in an arab country....sad but true )

I have to agree with what Zep said, Mymap should act like " vote map " in DM servers, i do like to play DM maps but sometimes its fun to vote other maps, especially after q2dm3

Also Quadz plz add the q2rdm and q2pduel maps in the DM rotation, they are big enough to fit 12/16 players :/

Am quite excited actually but i kinda think that it will fail, Axl Rose changed alot, he is fat and i have no idea what his voice will sound like. Plus he is a huge dick so there is a chance that he will ruin it somehow.

sorry been away due to exams, so ehhh, my main problem with the guitar right now is, i can't synchronize my left and my right arm, i pick fast and im quite good at the alternate picking, im really fast with down strokes ( not that much with up strokes but im working on it ) sometimes i pick but my left arm do not synchronize with that, especially during the solos which is really annoying, how can i make them synchronized ? any exercices to take ?

also, was watching youtube and they talked about economy picking, can anyone explain to me the use of it ? ( dump question i know ) i tried it today and seems like picking the strings is "easier and faster" than economiy picking.

I've been playing for about four years.  I play electric mainly, along with every genre besides country.  I'm just starting out in a band too, and our focus for covers is mainly Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I have a Mexican Standard Fender Stratocaster paired with a MI Audio Pollyanna Octave Pedal, but I'm looking into that NES guitar at the moment.
What guitar do you have?  Do you have any equipment?  What kind of music do you like to play?  How are you learning to play?

i bought my first guitar last year as far as i remember, it was a semi-acoustic MEG guitar ( kinda look like this one )

it's a good guitar for beginners and it sounds average/good, during that time, i didn't knew how to play guitar or even how to hold it, im a metalhead and been fan of the genre for several years and just decided to learn how to play so i bought that one ( was cheap, costed me like 50 euros or less ) i use mainly tabs from the internet since taking lessons from a teacher costs alot in here. 

i listen to lots of bands, from Metallica and Megadeth to Pink Floyd and led zepplin, my favorite band is still Megadeth but i had to listen to alot of songs and read alot of tabs from Metallica cause their songs are "easier" than Megadeth ones.

i bought my Electric guitar few weeks ago, it's my first electric guitar and it is an Ibanez GSA-60 ( ) it sounds really great, i had some problems at first when switching from that semi-acoustic to the Electric since the neck is smaller and the strings are closer to each other in the Ibanez, been practicing on it still lots to work on like my speed and my pinky.

as i said, the way i learn is tabs, i just follow the tabs and try to play the song using them but there are some songs/tabs that i don't want to play cause i don't even know how to play them, it drives me crazy sometimes ( like the middle of stairway to heaven ) 

Been playing for about 15 or 20 years. I play both acoustic and electric, but I prefer electric. Mainly play metal, but when I'm just farting around I'll play southern rock, blues, country, jazz, pretty much anything.

As for pedals, I have a few, but the only one I really use is my old Vox wah-wah. Vox is the ONLY wah as far I'm concerned. A lot of people like the newer Dunlop wah pedals, but I've always been a more of a fan of the old British wah pedals that always had a much more dynamic sweep with a sizzling top-end to them.

For amplifiers, I prefer rackmount component systems. I've added a couple things to my setup lately. First, I run into an old Aphex Easyrider compressor. Next, I run a single into my Marshall JMP-1 tube preamp, then I run that single out into a Rocktron Gainiac2 preamp to dial in a tad more tube scream to the distortion. From there, I run single out into my Digitech GSP2101. This thing has EVERYTHING on it and can do just about anything you can dream up and then some. And this is precisely WHY I don't use pedals, because I really don't have a need for any after this thing. And this unit is actually where most of my tone shaping comes from despite the fact that I'm using 2 different preamps before it. The EQ capabilities of the DigiTech unit far surpass what the Marshall and Rocktron can do on their own, so I just use basic generic settings that I never touch on both of those and then do all my major EQ shifting with the 10-band active EQ on the DigiTech unit. From there, I run 2 lines back up to the Marshall JMP-1, and then another 2 lines out to my Peavey Classic Series 120/120 dual mono tube poweramp. This motherfuckers a BEAST. Weighs about 60 pounds (due to the 4 massive transformers), loaded with 6L6 tubes, and runs 120 watts per independent channel. So if I wanted to, I could easily drive four 4x12 cabinets, but since I don't wanna be DEAF, I just run into two 1x12 combo amps that I've rigged up to use as speaker cabinets only with the head electronics removed.

you are quite an expert when it comes to guitars, i bet that you can play most songs with no problem, are/were you in some bands ? what are your favorite songs/solos that you like the most to play or to hear ?

also, i didn't bought an Amplifier yet cause they are so expencive in here  but will get one during the summer hopefully, maybe a Marshall or a VOX one.

as for the Wahh pedal, i don't really like it, dunno it always sounded weird and just ruin the original guitar sound, it's just my opinion, the Wah works good on some songs or solos indeed but mostly not, since i listen to lots of Metallica songs lately, Kirk Hammet uses the Wahh in a good way at least on the studio albums but when it comes to live concerts, his " improvisations" using that pedal just ruin the song for me. so i have to ask, why do you like that pedal ? and in which songs do you use them ?

just to tell something, when i said that i hate the USA, i meant the gouvernament and not the American people, i got a bunch of friends out there and they are cool and fun but the governament sucks ( my old post was kinda weird and maybe funny, i didn't knew how to write in english pretty well during those days and was kinda " new " to post on forums etc... ) i don't see what's wrong with this, i hate my country for expl, Tunisia sucks so bad, the government is pure shit and we are saying it on TVs etc...

also about Islam, as a muslim i don't really insult people, i mean, their religion, i don't post " death to jews " and that kind of stuffs, i don't see why some keep posting this kind of stuffs ( no need to name them, we all know who they are, right F.. ? ) and the people that you see on TV posting " Death to USA " are muslims indeed but they are just sick of the system of the American governament , and not the people living out there.

i like how you come every 6 months or so and bring us a remake of a famous q3/ql map, i haven't tried this map yet in q2 but looks nice from the screen-shots.

i suggest making a version of toxicity in q2 ( with maybe CG instead of LG ) but for now focus on campgrounds and try to make it better

its not weird. sometimes OS cant recognize video card well without chipsetdrivers installed 

BTW new notebook Sof. I didn't read about new riot but i read in papers: some dutch, holand, even Serbian tourists was robed in Tunisia. I hope wasn't you.    (sry couldn't resist)

i just deleted the old AMD drivers and installed the new ones, didn't really install any chipset drivers cause they are already up to date.

and yes hahaha, maybe i robbed some Serbian tourists and got myself a new notebook, who knows lool

my laptop is a HP Pavilion g6 - 1302sk and im using Windows 7 64 bits, if you know where i can find the proper latest drivers for my Graphic card then ill be happy to get them, also, do i have to get the latest bios drivers as-well ? and do i have to delete CC from my pc and install it again ?

if ur not sure about video card model chose autodetect in driver section

somehow it worked and now i got a 7450m which is really weird, i bought the laptop and got a 6470m and now it changed to 7450m but anyways, the ATI one works by using the CC and switched GFX options, i don't think i will install any other driver any time soon, thx mrt

On integrated cards that don't have dedicated video memory it helps to disable dynamic lighting -> gl_dynamic 0

this worked, thx ! didn't really thought about it

also, i got an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6470m in this laptop but somehow it doesn't work, Catalyst control center tells me that there is no "ATI" video card ( CC used to work but when i changed the GFX used in this laptop via bios it stopped after like two days, the ATI card worked great and i get all the games working with max settings with no-problem ) now i got back to 2011's drivers and everytime i try to install some new drivers, it just do not detect my gfx.

Hi,

i wanted to play q2 again and i installed r1q2 but i got a problem with R1GL :

-Every time i fire with any weapon, i get a huge lag ( my fps go so low and i get spikes on my net-graph ) and this lag ends when the rocket explodes or when the bullet reach it's destination ( if that makes sens )

Everything works great except for that lag which makes the game unplayable for me, obviously

i use a HP Pavilion g6 laptop ( got an Integrated intel HD Graphic Card and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6470m, take note that the pc uses the intel one and the latest drivers for the ATI gfx are installed but somehow, it doesn't seem to work,  )

any help ?
