Trouble Shooting / Re: seeing red when taking damage
« on: December 30, 2011, 07:22:55 AM »
Thanks!!! Added it to the config. Solved that issue.  Now to work on movement and mouse issues. I'll either get it back to where it was or adjust to what it is!

Trouble Shooting / seeing red when taking damage
« on: December 30, 2011, 06:31:58 AM »
I had a full blown puter crash so I started from scratch with a new Win 7, 64 bit PC. I installed Q2 from the original CD as well as all the variations from Tastyspleen. My current attempt is R1Q2 using default open GL video. The game is somewhat playable now but nowhere near as smooth or fluid as my old setup. The biggest complaint is seeing red every time I take damage. It totally blinds me. Any idea of how to stop this?
Thanks
Superdave

Check the "rate" setting in your Q2 Config file, if it gets lowered to say 100 that will cause the problems you are describing. If memory serves me correct the rate should be at least 10,000 on a system like yours, maybe higher.

Hello zero, and the long lost oBs Reaper, lol, There  are still a few GVN players around.
I have seen players from oBs, afro, lag, KEA, Fas. Lots of the old school players drop in
from time to time.

Man that was a blast, I was having so much fun I really didn't pay much attention to the lag.
C 2 shoes was tearing it up in the warm up, figured he would be hard to beat. Nice job!
I was having sooooo much fun fragging I didn't realize how bad my hands hurt until we finished.  Advil to the rescue.  Until next time.....enjoyed it guys...Thanks.

Mine was given to me by my riding buddies, or stolen from Superdave Osborn.
At the time I was a "hey ya'll, watch this!" dirt bike rider. So i was given the nickname

I've never known 4u2Masta to play TDM. 4u2Soul was our only TDM player and he used a non-4u2 alais when he competed in the torneys.  Punk & Gator, thanks for speaking up.
You are correct that 4u2Masta uses the "WRx" alais, and his IP addy will show up as
Canadian.

Quake / Re: What kinda mouse do u use?

Logitech MX 518, gotta admit it took some tweaking and mental
adjustments on my part to get used to it. So far so good. I've destroyed the
right mouse button on 3 MS opticals at an average of 3-4 months EA.  The
518 is at 6 months and still functional, "woot"......My fondness for railz is tough
on mice!

Quake / Re: Who's better at rail only?

Plastik, It didn't...just wanted to be clear to the other readers.

Bigwig, digency was on railz just an hour or so ago. Man you two need to play.
I wanna see the match!
Come on folks, hook these two up for frag fest. Inquiring minds want to know!

No offense intended Plastik, or to any one else. Just making a call based on what
I've witnessed on the railz server or in Bigwig's case the fact that I've competed
with/against him for years. I need to see ya play a few rounds when your "On It"
I suppose to make an informed judgement on your skills.
I manage to win a few rounds of railz, depending on the skill level present on the server of course. The tasty railz server has at least a dozen skilled players who can dominate
at any given time.
I made a decision to be nice and sit out a map if the competion is
lesser skilled. Not many new players learning Q2, Don't want to discourage the few
new players who give it a shot. I remember getting hammered horribly when DSL
came into existence and I was stuck with a 18.8 connection at 300 ping. Not a good
feeling, lol. Just a thought for the skilled players, you know who you are.

Gotta vote for element over plastik. I have on ocassion outscored plastik, can only
get within 10 of element. Digency and element would be close, but advantage digency
since he spends more time on railz.

Quake / like the new railz mod, BUT???
« on: February 25, 2006, 08:31:39 PM »
Man the new version crashes a bunch, way too much in fact. Any insight as to the cause or a fix for the problem? Like I said, I like the insta gib mod, reminds me of velocity.net  a few years ago. just needs a few tweaks to stop the crash/reset.
Thanks for the efforts.
