Nowadays I find myself not even paying attention to chat.. I just play.  if people say a bunch of shit, I just hit my "D:" bind lol.  seems far more effective that way

To be fair, there are instances of weird stuff in q2 like shooting a rocket directly at someone, seeing it directly hit their model, and yet it passes through them.  Same with rails occasionally.  It is possible albeit not often … q2 has some of the strangest weapon mechanics of any game, and things that should hit players don’t, or when you aren’t aiming and know you should’ve missed, the game calculates a hit.  This is aside from lag, pl, or any other predictable factors, and definitely not cheats… it’s just q2.

I am really really hoping this isn't true, even though I know that quadz wouldn't be the type to "joke" about something like this.. so I know it's real.     I'm seriously sad right now.. I just talked to him a couple weeks back, and he seemed like the same old quadz.

I know it might be too early to ask, but does anyone know what happened with his passing?  He seemed (at least from his online presence) that he was full of life and going strong.. wonder what happened.

Whatever it might've been, you will be sorely missed quadz!  Speaking as an old fool that learned to appreciate you giving extra chances, something I wasn't given at other game servers, you were good to me when I didn't deserve it.  I'm glad I knew you, even if only online, as your calmness and levelheadedness was something truly rare.  Til we meet again

I'm not on as much but I know 888 aka Dalude aka a bunch of other names.   Guy has been and still looks to be a clown.

If a ban or full mute of some sort can be figured out, that would be great because he is as toxic a player as it gets.  Kinda sad really as he started out as a normal player.. not sure what happened there.

This problem has been happening a lot lately for many people too.  I don't notice it real bad but it does sometimes feel.. sticky might be a good descriptor.  Here's my traceroute just done here.

in-game feels smooth, it's just occasionally there's weird sticky lag that won't show up on netgraph (no red lines, no green spikes/mountains, no jitter).  I'm noticing a ton of timeouts here though.. maybe it's some of the main servers not sending a ping back that's causing the issues for everyone.

Also Spectrum (time warner) sucks.  How am I going to live in the city with the server and get routed down to Houston then back up to Dallas

FYI to all who might want to know, all of this started because Vae was stating lies and misdirections in that Discord channel, to new players who don't know his history, talking about people who weren't in the channel to defend themselves.  I thought it would be fair to inform the channel on some of those lies/inconsistencies, and then haunted showed up.. game over    So Vae brought all of this on himself.

As a side note, it would be fun to get some team games going though sometime with any old/cool players wanting to show up.  Just probably not Vae because he's Gae

I think that's Corncob, a.k.a. Cornelius a.k.a. a million corn-themed names.  He used to be a map maker in CTF if it's the same guy (he used to go by <BEER> in those days).  That's sad if this is what he does for "fun" now, cuz he used to make cool maps.  Oh well

Dude, prime rib roasts are to die for.  I've been making them every Christmas as an alternative to fucking turkey or even worse, ham.     

BTW, Focalor you need to branch out as far as whiskeys go.  There's much better out there than Maker's Mark.  Try some Four Roses single barrel sometime.  That one is a truly wonderful tasting whiskey.  I don't like whiskey as much as say, Cognac or Armagnac, but Four Roses makes a damn good product.

From the Four Roses website on the tasting notes of the single barrel:

Nose: Fruity, spicy, floral, caramel, vanilla, cocoa, maple syrup, moderately woody.
Palate: Hints of ripe plum & cherries, robust, full body, mellow.
Finish: Smooth & delicately long.
50% abv

BTW, for a strong whiskey, it's very mellow compared to the sharpness that Maker's has.  I don't like higher strength stuff usually but this one is pretty good.  The multiple levels of flavors make it worth trying, and I usually have a bottle of this on hand at any time.  :>

There's some damn good wine blends out there too.  Most people don't realize that some of the cheaper wines out there are blended.  Sometimes the names are false, i.e. they call it Merlot but it's actually several different red "Merlot"-like styles blended up to bring the cost down.  Unless you're an absolute wine snob, you won't taste much difference between a say, middle-price Malbec and a mid-shelf blended red of similar design.  I guess it comes down to what you look for in your drink.

Well I've been playing on the servers Sun-Tues, no problems.  It might just be this computer, it's really old and on its last leg.  BTW, anticheat has always been in my folder, through last weekend when this problem was happening too.

But I still wouldn't lump q3, q4, and quake champions together though.

To me, graphics-wise, they seem damn near identical.  Game play physics and movement characteristics are almost identical too.  It's like id thought that quake 3 was the PERFECT quake and never got creative since.  But it is what it is.

Trouble Shooting / Odd problem just started happening with Q2

Ok this is a weird one.  I can connect to tasty dm server, but every other tastyspleen-specific server I try to connect to, my r1q2 hangs and eventually dies (goes gray with spinning mouse icon and asks me to close the program).  This problem does not occur with any other non-tasty server, including some servers still networked with tasty but not officially tasty (Wallfly idling).

Is anyone else having this issue?  This is very odd and it only started today when I jumped on.  I always load up dm, but I tried to follow someone to tourney earlier and couldn't, tried ctf-match tonight and couldn't.  Any ideas what's up?

So I played it at Quakecon.  It was fun, just like Quake 3, Q4, QL, etc... but it doesn't satisfy the desire for a q2-like environment in the game.  Might be hoping for too much from id, but it would be nice to see at least a little adoption of the old-school effect forward to the newer games.

The champions with the most useful abilities (to me) were Nyx (for the invisibility trick) and Slash (for the speed-explosive trails).  TBH, most of the champions are kinda underpowered compared to those two simply for the speed and escape abilities... if you're fast, you'll win with those two.
